THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
DubDee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
was thinking about the cheats last night - such is my hatred it's really annoying me that they are close to playing finals, but I comforted myself with the following: I reckon they would have won a flag or gone close in the last 5 years if not for this saga. and they blew it by cheating! add in Ryder, Hibberd, Carlisle and the early draft picks they lost. Add in Watson /goddard/stanton etc being in their prime and take away all the distraction and controvsery hopefully now with Watson and Goddard being close to retirement, they will feel the loss of the draft picks and go back to the bottom 4 where they belong. Heppell is not a great leader imo and has had an average year -
Thanks Paul The great thing about these 5 stars being back is they were all out for around a month or less so in theory they should not take too long to adjust and start playing strong footy - unlike Gawn and Hoges fingers crossed no more injuries and the stars could really align for us and we could hit form at the right time
-
Call me a cynic but I am beginning to think it might to be for the AFL to maximise ratings. See who will be playing off for finals spots and put them in the high rating spots I reckon we can expect a Sat night game

Question: why is there a floating round 23 when there is a bye the week after?
-
Just saw the Martin one - didn't seem like much in it. Didnt deserve a week IMO. Vince certainly deserved a week
-
i havent seen the Martin hit, anyone got a link to the video?

How exactly does one 'prop' Bruce?
-
Saints have Sydney next, then port, WC and us. And now % is screwed. They just lost their season tonight I reckon!
-
people actually thinking that playing home games in Darwin isnt a negative thing for us?! talk about it and get howled down for whinging?? yeah no complianing goes on on this site at all. of course its a pain in the backside and we have a better chance of winning more games if we play home games in Melb. If people don't like hearing negative comments about Darwin, don't read the fricken thread!

Sorry did someone just say Go Bomber??? I see it differently, I reckon there are only 2 teams outside the 8 that can realistically make it. Bombers and WC (dogs have lost 7 of last 10). So I'll be hoping the Saints get up, they are in great form and will make the 8 regardless IMO. Bombers have an easy run home but if they lose they are almost out of it (at 7 and 9) and we only need to worry about one team coming in. Port have 5 of 7 at home so they are in. Tigers and Sydney are the teams most likely to move out but I wouldnt be surprised if the 8 stays as is

My Favourite thing to do at the moment after I get home from the game is to watch the replay and concentrate on Clarry. He is dead set unbelievable around the contest. walks, pushes off, somehow knows where to run and then attacks the contest/ball. its like everyone else is standing still. and he just extracts the ball even when not in any position to do so. never seen anything like it

What a [censored] disgrace Handing Hird an honour like this after what he put those 34 men through and what he put the AFL through is a joke. Basically giving the message to all that he did nothing wrong

Goody reckons he's in the mix!!

thanks for that Goody. Not in the mix. got it all this teasing with trenners is killing me and no doubt him.

How is Darwin better for sprint work than melbourne? just asking, I have no idea I don't see any big advantage to going up there for a week aside from the mental break and to get some sunshine. The club might think being in our great facilities and keeping routine right now is the best way to go. and we also dont want to have our injured players for a plane for 8 hours. Hopefully the Darwin/Alice thing will finish soon and we can act like a proper club that wants to use every advantage to win games
-
Most people wanted to drop Wagner last week but it seems not to be the case this week hopefully lesson learned that if a player has talent to give them more than one week back from injury before dropping them (eg, J Smith)
-
bit of an exaggeration, 3 games in 29 days is another way of putting it. but I get what your saying they missed 2 games in 3 weeks and that meant they could not prepare as usual and threw them off a bit physically. teams will just have to learn how to prepare for this better to me it was more a coincidence. GWS should have won and Sydney were the best team last year and were top of the ladder
-
what a load of rubbish this 'struggling after the bye' is. funny how the top 2 don't complain when they have a week off before the prelim (and more often than not, win the prelim) I agree that the pre finals bye will suit us. Oliver/Trac etc will be hanging for it
-
Good that we have 3 games at the G in the lead up to finals. favourable fixturing for once
-
Watts out again after "he should be right this week" for 3 weeks straight! WTF. why do I always fall for the MFC BS speak. just tell us he did his hammy and its 3-4 weeks FFS
-
Ill be sick if the drug cheats make the finals. I reckon the saints will account for them on friday so they have to win 5 out of 6 to get 12 wins after that. very soft run but hopefully they slip up. they lost to brisbane FFS
-
we play the 3 worst sides in the league and we need 3 wins to make the 8 so unless something catastrophic happens, we will at least limp in to the 8. I predict 4 wins. if we were playing the saints at the moment, they would roll us as they are in form so I'm glad its not for a few weeks. Round 17 looms as a preview of our Prelim Round 18 preview of our elimination final and round 20 - preview of the GF. where Viney rams scullys head into the turf at the first bounce and we win by 10 goals! **** started off ok in this post and now I've got carried away!!
-
A fine only! at least membry got 2 weeks, that should hurt the saints

great stuff from Lewis. taking the pi$$ out of the media and the 'experts'. and his words about Jetta are awesome too! "I don’t want to pump up his tyres too much, but I reckon he’s the most underrated backline player in the competition – he’s extraordinary" http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-07-10/culture-issues-laughable-says-lewis
