So it's bad news when they talk about him leaving ?
There's never been any strong evidence he'd go.
if they were talking about it being likely he'd go rather than likely he'd stay, yeah it would be a bad sign

Good news that the press are all talking about him staying. I know it doesn't mean heaps until he signs but its a lot better than everyone writing that he is gone.
a 3 year deal at the end of the season would be awesome.

i can't believe how flat and gutted I still am. The anger was there for 48 hours and is now gone and now I just don't care anymore
we can't beat St Kilda. ST KILDA!? far out. i know its pathetic but I was looking forward to allowing myself to dream of finals for a couple more weeks (seeing this be the saints in the news is brutal).
when are we going to stand up? everyone aside from Viney need to take a good look in the mirror.
not sure I can get up the interest to watch the WC game - good start by the Dees, the umpires bend us over and WC kick 8 to nothing in the last Q. you could write the script now

Nankervis hasn't shown he can play forward. Sydney lack this type of player with Tippett out
its a no from me

As a Demon's supporter all this stability doesn't sit well with me.
I say sack him with one game to go with Brett Alison as the stand in for the last game. Purely just to cause confusion

don't now why I open a thread when Saty is the last poster. I should know its guaranteed to be childish bickering
Anyway... I'm pumped for Grimsey's 100th, god knows he deserves some positivity. If he gets more confident and plays within his limits, I reckon his skill errors will dry up and he can hold down a spot on the wing.

Massive game. I'll be absolutely gutted if we lose and over the moon if we win.
will get us to 8 wins, beat the saints hoodoo. really show we have improved since last year, get us away from the riff raff on the table (pies, tiges, blues, etc)
closed roof, expect Hogan and Gawn to dominate. 4 contested marks each. Hogan to kick 8. Viney BOG

Absolutely no worries about T Mac leaving. we are finally on the rise and he is running out with his brother each week
anyway, Sydney's main deficiency is kicking skils, so yeee-ah, nah
-
A first rounder for Hibberd is surely a joke!? Looking at our best back 6 I think we do need some experience and leadership, perhaps Hibberd could help here and be a bit of a general that we need. Hunt, Wagner very young. The Macs are young and T Mac is what I call a vocal leader.
I would be happy enough to get home for a second rounder

aside from money its a lose-lose.
Members and supporters miss seeing the Dees play live twice a year. these replacement games are just other Melb based away games most supporters would go to anyway - so we miss seeing our team play twice (unless you have money and time to spare to travel - which most of us dont)
Our ladder position is adversely affected: we would be more likely to win at the G as opposed to NT. Imagine the difference playing West Coast in NT rather than in perth?
its sad that we are still so financially poor we need to sell games, but if that is the situation then what can we do? obviously this is all about money as we could go to NT in pre-season and set up academies/play NAB cup without playing AFL games there
-
Very good call dropping Dawes and having another runner. We smashed them in the first half.

What a joke. Could be difference between playing finals or not next year. No home ground advantage, travel and then sapped for the next week
PJ reckons we don't lose out as there are two other home games... Umm we miss going to two games at the G. We don't just attend home games.
Sad that we are still in such a poor financial state

8 day break is handy.
Garland in for O Mac
then if players sore or tired Oliver and Wagner the next two cabs off the rank

Don't disagree with any of those changes, but would question whether two changes is enough. Vandenberg in particular is very lucky.
Hopefully Grimes gets at least the three weeks that Michie got earlier in the season to show his stuff. Ditto for White.
Bugg should only be in the side if there is a hard tag, as against Collingwood. Otherwise he is a liability. Dawes should be made to kick at least six goals in the VFL before he comes back in to the senior team.
The club has said that one of the McDonalds will play forward this week, so we can cover Watts going in to the ruck.
there goes my confidence about this game!

Im sick of Hawks winning but I've got nothing but respect for Hodge. goes in hard every time, so mentally tough. always lifts when he needs to and leads brilliantly.
aggression goes over the top sometimes but that happens to players that play on the edge

For all the talk about how uniquely 'even' the competition is this year there's 7 weeks of footy to go and no team outside the 8 can make it, and Hawthorn are a game clear on top of the ladder with a decent run home. I could give a flying about the 'suspense' of whether or not GWS or Sydney finish top 4.
I'm bored, but I'm holding onto the hope that North fall in a giant hole. That will make me happy.
The 8 hasn't changed since round 6! not great when we finally win a few games and cant even dream of finals for long
media are trying to say how exciting it is with the 8 moving around and being close, but if you support a team outside the 8 you couldnt give a rats
-
I think what the OP shows is that the AFL may be trending towards power clubs. Free agency is the main reason behind this I think - imagine if the Hawks didnt keep topping up their list, no way they would have still won 3 in a row. Will we see the hawks out of the finals in the next 5 years? if not, the system is broke
The EPL is trending the other way which is great (still massively dominated by certain clubs). this is mainly do to the mid tier clubs getting taken over. West Ham, Stoke, etc are attracting great players so it great for the league over there

two fits guys that can play 80% game time.
Bugg is a form slump. Dawes was too poor to keep, even though our structure suffers.
Good accountable changes.

you don't think Roos would be involved in assessing possible recruits for next year?

No one should need a rest after the bye so no change.
Bring in grimes and Oliver Wagner next week to freshen up and smash the saints

you must have been shocked when Scully made his dramatic move to GWS!
yeah i listen to the stories and if they are all heading one way, I take that on board to a certain degree
