Don't disagree with any of those changes, but would question whether two changes is enough. Vandenberg in particular is very lucky.

Hopefully Grimes gets at least the three weeks that Michie got earlier in the season to show his stuff. Ditto for White.

Bugg should only be in the side if there is a hard tag, as against Collingwood. Otherwise he is a liability. Dawes should be made to kick at least six goals in the VFL before he comes back in to the senior team.

The club has said that one of the McDonalds will play forward this week, so we can cover Watts going in to the ruck.

there goes my confidence about this game!

  2. Im sick of Hawks winning but I've got nothing but respect for Hodge.  goes in hard every time, so mentally tough. always lifts when he needs to and leads brilliantly.

aggression goes over the top sometimes but that happens to players that play on the edge

For all the talk about how uniquely 'even' the competition is this year there's 7 weeks of footy to go and no team outside the 8 can make it, and Hawthorn are a game clear on top of the ladder with a decent run home. I could give a flying about the 'suspense' of whether or not GWS or Sydney finish top 4.

I'm bored, but I'm holding onto the hope that North fall in a giant hole. That will make me happy.

The 8 hasn't changed since round 6!  not great when we finally win a few games and cant even dream of finals for long

media are trying to say how exciting it is with the 8 moving around and being close, but if you support a team outside the 8 you couldnt give a rats

  4. I think what the OP shows is that the AFL may be trending towards power clubs. Free agency is the main reason behind this I think - imagine if the Hawks didnt keep topping up their list, no way they would have still won 3 in a row. Will we see the hawks out of the finals in the next 5 years?  if not, the system is broke

The EPL is trending the other way which is great (still massively dominated by certain clubs).  this is mainly do to the mid tier clubs getting taken over. West Ham, Stoke, etc are attracting great players so it great for the league over there

Are you aware Roos won't be our coach next year?

you don't think Roos would be involved in assessing possible recruits for next year?

he has some experience in the area

  6. He has talent but don't think he has been taught to tackle and chase. Roos would either not rate him or perhaps think he can teach him this.

Average wages at the moment are 350/yr next year average will be 400/Yr you'd think. 400 for a fringe player. So 500 not crazy money anymore

  7. Unless Pedo is back (pretty he is not) then no change

kids need to develop more and the guys that played at casey will be no more fresh then the AFL guys

I though the team played well on sunday - just young guys in particular making errors at key stages

  8. Break out game - one of the best 14 touch games I have seen

Great to see him tackle and be defensive whilst using his pace/skill well - the result of good strong development by the coaches

if he keeps this up, the opposition will have to tag him - imagine someone if OUR backline needing to be tagged?   could be a massive player for us

  9. I love grimes and trenners. I think we all do. They stood up and led during some horrible years when they shouldn't have had to.

I can't argue with the ins and outs.

Fact is, we need pace and line breaking. They must think Garlett and harmes have done enough. Garlett is an interesting one, I think the normal rules don't apply to him. He has enough runs on the board to come back in. He better chase and tackle though or he'll be dropped. And now he knows that is no empty threat

  10. have to admit, if we get beated easily - I will be gutted.

im still holding out some hope that we will surprise a few teams this year. Only surprising win really has been GWS but strange things happen in round 1 and pushing north (but we didnt win it)

c'mon the Dees, give us a win!   the gap in games/exp isnt that great, it is no excuse (esp if Garlett and Grimes come in)

  11. Anyone hear David King rabbit on about about how Essendon could in the window for the next 3 years? Wtf. He said they should trade pick one and trade for  a star and they would push for top 4

    what is he smoking??

next year at best they will be in the group outside the eight on 8-10 wins

  12. The only way it would work is if there are rules round it so that your best players cannot leave for more money/flags

i would have no problem if Grimes wanted mid season to move to another club that would play him. I'd like to see him play.  I'm sure a team with injuries or poor at the back would play him.

not sure what the rules would be...  played less than 20% games for the 1s. not top 10 highest paid, not younger than 25?  and include VFL players
