we really did a number on that draft.
almost like we picked poor players on purpose
What could have been.....

Random stats for the week - wasn't sure where to post this:
- We are 4th overall for average contested possessions (150) this year in the AFL - behind Sydney, Crows and GWS
- 3rd overall for clearances behind Sydney and GWS
- 5th overall for average tackles
- No 1 for average hit outs (Obvs)
Great efforts by the coaches and players. What a turnaround its been since 2013

Surely Hogan would sign for longer than 2 years unless the media attention really does not bother him. it started 2 years out this time, might start 3 years out next time which would be at the end of next year! sign on for 4 yrs plus Jesse!
-
I think we might lose this one. Port are rightly favourites being at home and having beaten us regularly.
both teams and up and down and I think Port will be up and we'll be down. hope I'm wrong as Im flying over tomorrow
prove me wrong Dees!

Creativity in nicknames seems to be a thing of the past. Coming up with "Hunty" seems to tax even the brainiest players creativity.
Hunty
Buggy
Jonesy
Frosty
After adding "y" to end end of a surname, or if you're getting really off the wall, the first name (Matty, Jeffy), the highest level of achievement is to subsititue a former player's first name. Hence Hunt could be "Rex". But that's asking a bit much.
Agree Fidgey, they need to get creative
that Little Hunt? J-Hun?
okay maybe Hunty will do

Fyfe would be good depth for our midfield.
im not agianst it

Viney should win it. he has been so consistent and Gawny had a quiet patch. Gawn will be second then Jonesy. then a fair gap
great to have 4-5 worthy winners for once!

are people actually debating whether to bring in Hogan if fit?
seriously he is our top goal scored and one of the first picked. He is in if fit. just need to figure out who to drop
I would drop Weeds as he was fully knackered in the fourth. bring him back in for the blues

I'm heading to the game, organised the trip to Radelaide earlier in the season with mates and am absolutely thrilled about our chances against Port!
We are playing some of the greatest Downhill skiers in our time so i'm hoping the Dees can get an early run at the scoreboard to silence the crowd. Let Port fans sing a song at the start of the game - we can do the singing at the end!
I'll see you there mate. ill be the other guy with a Dees scarf on standing on the hill
hope we make it out of there alive!

The most pleasing thing from the win was how hard and tough we were.
Mitchell I reckon was targeted - every time he went near it he was tackled and then crunched.
we finally have confidence! fend off against hodge? a double fend off? We tackled like animals, in packs, led by Viney. I have never been prouder of the Dees.
The Hawks resorted to sniper and cheap hits to try to intimidate us, which would have worked in the past.

The guy that made the most mistakes was Frost (made four in a row at one stage!) but they won't drop him. The Weed for Hogan. Let's hope Jeffy comes good this week although he played his role on Saturday.
I know he made some mistakes but he played a high risk high / high reward game. he broke the lines a few times and set up a goal or two. the players taking risks was the reason we won so I would certainly be keeping him in
-
was a fair bump. didnt get him in the head
it was all the ducking by Cyril and the spear tackling that was disgraceful

The Weed came in for Hoges and should make way IMO. I was very impressed with Pedo - marking, bringing the ball to ground and general competiveness. We have a better chance of winning with Pedo and Hogan playing
The only other change to consider would be Kennedy for Garlett

thanks GNF for the info.
must be just petty jealously that brings out the nasty, pathetic remarks. Now idea why people cant just take your info for what it is and move on.
hope you keep posting

A few stats on the game.
MFC HFC Diff Average Age 22.6 26.5 -3.8 Average Games 56.6 137.0 -80.4 Back Line Ave Age 21.8 28.7 -6.8 Ave Games 46.2 190.5 -144.3 good god. 7 years and 150 games!!
will be so hard for us to even compete when you look at that. you can get away with some inexperience in the fwd half or even in the middle but not at the back. The hawks will smash us once it gets inside 50
it takes years to learn positional play, using your body, when to leave your man etc as a backman
-
heard Maxy and others speaking about him and the one thing they all say is he goes at the ball hard. Max said no-one attacks the ball in the air like he does. which is a massive endorsement.
great that we are recruitment tough lads and developing them the right way. I feel sorry for the senior guys on our list that have been let down by a dodgy FD.

So if Hogan doesnt play, the Weed will come in and be our best tall fwd straight away?
Good luck to him, dont expect anything from him aside from hard running, leading and competing.
-
from the VFL report, you'd think Oliver, Pedo, Newton, Kennedy, Michie will be considered. Weeds with an outside shot
no defenders there so perhaps unlikely any defenders dropped.
id expect Dawes, Garlett, Harmes to come out for Pedo, Newton, Oliver
willbe awesome to see Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca play together for the first time.
-
Wtf is wrong with me? I think we have a chance.
My god it would be sweet.
The Hawks' arrogance could be there downfall

christ, imagine if we had a bad year with injuries this year? A 4-5 win season would have killed us

The Tigers have no good talent under 26. Prestia is exactly what they need in addition to draft picks
anyway fock them. I still think and hope we are a good chance to land him. its all talk at the moment

Surely Ricgmond aren't going to give up a top 10 pick and $700,000 for Prestia. That would be complete madness. The recruiting staff need a medical check
I would happily pay 700G and a first rounder for Prestia. They are talking a first rounder for Hibberd for gods sake (wont happen surely)
Prestia is a gun. played full seasons for 3 years. in 2014 had 13 brownlow votes and ave 27 touches. since then 7 and 14 games. hardly injury riddled as some are saying (O'Meara is a different story)
he is only 23 and has many years ahead of him
