  1. I am surprised by the amount of anti-drinking comments on this thread. 99% of people that drink at the footy do so and don't get into fights. the problem is D-heads (in this case two of them) attending the footy, not people drinking at the footy. As you said, fights at the footy has decreased massively over the years. putting restrictive rules for when you buy booze will not help and would just aggravate people further. You just need to look at england to see the lock out laws don't work.
  2. Well done Weeds. Took the hit and went back and worked hard. I like the 20+ touches and 8 marks more than the goals. showed he worked hard. it will be interesting to see who will be up fwd out of Keilty, Preuss and Weed. T Mac took a couple of marks in the 3rd Q thank god so he should be safe
  3. ah yes know those spots. I grew up in Artane. Dad's family is still in summerhill and i take my life in my hands when i visit them! i went back to work in Dublin in my 20's. was tough to leave. still miss the pubs/social scene and the humour but Melbourne is my fav city in the world.
  4. Kielty has trained and played fwd all year and even preseason (I think) so not sure how easy it would be to switch to defence even though he is experienced
  5. Yeah im a Dub. Moved here as a kid in 88. Sean and Jim were why I started following the Dees. No doubt in my mind if you mouth off and tipped someone’s beers over back in the day you get a gut punch or worse. Agree on the lack of respect point
  6. You reckon back in the 70s and 80s it would have been better? There is less violence these days. It’s just that you see every example posted on the internet these days
  7. Anyone else see the scuffle post siren near M9 sore bloody losers!
  8. What has happened to T Mac?? he is playing like Herman Munster!! has to have multiple injuries
  9. Drag Jeff. Unforgivable. Drop him next week
  10. Pity it took you 8 years to mature out of being a jumper punching inconsistent player who was dropped many times even when we were deplorable.
  11. The season is done but we really need a win to gain respect and to get the club back on track. I hope Gawn spews on Scully at some point and I hope we see Keilty in the circle covered in gaterade post game! go Dees
  12. Soft Trac
  13. Pretty common for kids to get injuries adjusting to afl. Danger, Cotchin etc all had slow starts
  14. There is something special about a debut. Some players just fit in at the top level and there is a chance Dec has a great game and will have a career. Bloody exciting. And Drunkn being open lets us in so we feel like we know him already! Go Dec, smash it!!
  15. Keilty still listed as Emg on MFC website and twitter but nothing surprising there, hardly great on the breaking news anyone have a source? would be pumped for Dec to have a chance
  16. This game and next week are our only chance of wins before the bye (god that is depressing - dreading QB) best case 3-9 at the bye. wow 7 winable games after the bye but season gone so who cares
  17. 6.0 coming up! hopefully he is still scarred from the final against us last year, running into an open goal and hitting the post.
  18. Ben Brown is a flopper. Constantly plays for freekicks and I have no interest in ever seeing him in the red and blue. Anyway, we need agile Tall fwds who can play up the ground and connect our fwd attacks
  19. you said we don't win much and I was just correcting you. as we won a lot over the past year I think it's interesting to look at winning % per location
  20. I think we all now realise you a hawks fan. Dont let the door hit you on the way out
  21. Calm down mate. Every club does it. Like Riewoldt against us. He came back on and now is out for 8. Impossible to diagnose some issues so if you’re sore you get back out there. It’s footy
  22. We won 16 last year. Topic worth discussing imo
  23. does he have all the gifts? he is not quick, does not have a burst from packs, limited agility, poor kick for goal on the run and set shot. scored only 62 goals from 69 games while playing mostly fwd. 12 possession limited impact games such as anzac eve occur regularly to me he looks like he should be a gun but hasn't shown it. having said that he is just 23 so he could get better
  24. Gee you have to feel for McCartin. can't take a trick. Don't think Trac will ever be a great player but he will hopefully get more consistent and be a good half fwd for us. Gus will be have a great career
  25. this came out today. there are a few '3s' in there. exciting times indeed! https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-casualty-ward-every-clubs-injury-list-ahead-of-round-7-2019/news-story/1ad19ac2dbaef5ae31d5c83493d45b4d MELBOURNE Mitch Hannan (Knee) — 3-5 weeks Neville Jetta (Knee) — 7-9 weeks Jay Kennedy-Harris (Knee) — 7 weeks Kade Kolodjashnij (Concussion) — TBC Jake Lever (Knee) — 3-5 weeks Steven May (Groin) — TBC Alex Neal-Bullen (Corked quad) — TBC Aaron Nietschke (Knee) — Season Joel Smith (Groin) — 3-4 weeks Aaron vandenBerg (Ankle) — 4-5 weeks Jack Viney (AC joint) — 2 weeks Guy Walker (Shoulder) — Indefinite
