  1. I went to training at Gosch's for what would have been Lever's 2nd session with the club and was amazed with how he was interacting with, guiding, encouraging and urging his teammates. He had leadership written all over him ! With May by his side, you would expect nothing less than what we've seen develop over the last 3 years in our backline. The standards with them there are sky high and when they leave, there is every expectation that the younger defenders' play will reflect their experience of playing alongside these two stars.
  2. And yet, youve' u'sed them perfectly well here. I no because I'm a English teacher.
  3. Hold on Mazer, you forgot the most important one ' Always play goalside of him. Never let him get behind you !! '
  4. Is that like the 2022 version of the Kreuser Cup ?? Do we have to win .... or lose ( to win ) ???
  5. Can the Dogs throwing of the ball be any more blatant ? Multiple un penalised throws by the Dogs in the last quarter here, Naughton running miles over the mark , no 50 paid, free kick to Allir in the Dogs forward line, the Dogs player gives the umpire a mouthful, no 50 paid. Many were there to be fair but the pro Dogs free kick count in the last was, frankly , obscene
  6. The pull of returning home to family is a big pull for a player. Dangerfield came to Geelong to be close to family and how successful that's been for him !! He's now closer to family, so, good for him !!!
  7. I was happy for Weeds not to contest the ball with Mc Donald in the goal square but him knowing that should have lead him to call McDonald out of the way to let the ball drift through off Harmes boot. God forbid that Harmes should finish his career on only 499 goals because T Mac snaffled one of his goals !!!!
  8. Yeah but it was a good handpass. Hit Lynch right in the bread basket !!!
  9. Our Plan B is " don't panic ", then return to Plan A.
  10. I think taking the first option nowadays is working well for us because, as another smart poster mentioned in a different thread, the opposition has usually flooded back so much that once we get the turnover in our backline and start moving it forward there are acres of wide open space with our forwards and mids streaming into it
  11. And what a good option it was...….. resulted directly in a goal !!!!
  12. And even if ANB doesn't dominate the stats, he is one our unacknowledged "leaders" and his impact in that role is significant !!
  13. Any time in the last 30 years that a team scored the first 2 goals of the game against us, I would think it was ' Game over ' I don't think that any more !!
  14. Cerra looks like quite a decent player
  15. This is the difference between this team and Melbourne teams of 10 years ago. Even if the player running to receive the ball or fill a gap is not used or does not directly impact the the play 90% of the time, they will still keep doing it without dropping their heads because they know what they're doing is contributing to the team's success. Sit back and enjoy, friends. This is going to be a long and successful ride !!!
  16. I know what ' Hoi polloi ' means too. But I'm not poorly educated !!! As for the Hoi polloi, we'll see plenty of them with black and yellow scarves at the MCG on Sunday night.
  17. Salem is highly regarded by supporters and the club alike and for very good reason. He is a great defender. Everyone is assuming he will come straight into the team when he recovers and that will probably happen but don't count on it. He might be made to fight his way back into the team and earn his spot like every other other defender. The other observation I would make is that Jordon is playing so well at present that he's making a very strong case to retain his place in the team in the medium term. For mine, Jordon is not the first player to lose his place to returning team mates
  18. A bit harsh M R. !!! I, for one, was terribly upset that the Cats dropped their bundle and lost the game Nah, just kidding!!!! GEELOL............ G. A. G MEGA FFFFFFFD !!!!!
  19. The umpires are on a hiding to nothing because whatever decision they make, 50 % of the crowd will disagree with them. But, give me strength ...... !!!!!! Umpire dissent. ?????? The most hideous and ludicrous rule ever introduced , by a country mile. !!!!!!! If a players says to an umpire " Go and FFF yourself !!! " ok that's not on. Even something like " That was a s@&$ decision" is not ok But shaking your head in frustration or putting your arms out as if to say " Turn it up " without uttering a syllable is not dissent You can't prevent players from showing any emotion and you will never convince the spectators that this 'dog's breakfast ' of a rule is something that will ever be applied even handedly or consistently, a point other posters have made in this very thread. For that very reason, spectators will turn on umpires with even greater vigour than ever before. I admire the umpires for their efforts to officiate a game with incredibly complex and nuanced rules, but this rule will make umpires' lives on game day a living hell. This is the rule which is the straw that breaks the camel's back
  20. Is that a new style of umpiring the AFL is trialling this round ???? Wonderful !!
  21. Neal- Bullen, Featherstone-Hough, Emile -Brennan, Bring on the double barrel names !!
