OK just for a moment stop to consider why we are trading, what is our goal? If we think that replacing Hogan for May is a bad deal because Hogan is a better player we are missing the big picture. If we have 3 Hogans & no Mays and our aim is not to have the most talented side but to win premierships we do the deal. So a win at the trade table means our side becomes better & we have a better chance to win a flag. If we can make our side better we do the deal, forget 23 & 30 vs 15 or 5 vs 8 & 11 or Hogan vs May KK 23. If Hogan out enables us to be better we win.

King Ding this team at the MFC that you think are doing such a lousy job got our team into a preliminary final this year. Last straw says you, I think you are sweating the little things and ignoring the big picture. I would give away Max & Clarrie & Viney for pick 87 if it got us a flag or two. Because there would be no value to us trading at that point - can't get May. My understanding (could be wrong) is that player trades will be closed before live trades start.

I'm starting to think "trade week" should be stretched to beyond two weeks to two months for some clubs and reduced to one day for others all culminating on the same day. That way we will get the same result but Freo will have a much bigger hotel bill to put in their soft cap. And Melbourne can turn up on the last day and pop through a few quick deals.
