I was thoroughly impressed with us tonight. We did really well. Best we’ve played in some time. The only difference is last year we were able to win in spite of external factors (ie: umpires). This year, we aren’t quire at that point. We will need to get back there.

He did well in areas, poor in areas. He is our best bet at present.

We were robbed by the umpires. I cleaned up punting live in betting because of it, but I’d rather have won zero money. I had a lot of calls after the game saying “well done mate you cleaned up”. But I’d rather have not cleaned up. Fact is. Football is a hard game to win when your morale is continuously obliterated by the umpires. The bullies free kick count is just the usual for them. But for us, we can only go to the well so many times. It’s like a handicap in harness racing. We can come off of 10 and still win,’ come off 20. But if we keep coming off handicaps eventually you get rolled due to circumstance. Ideally we’d be treated fairy. Ironically, the answer isn’t to change our game, it’s it’s double down. Do we have players who play for free kicks? And if we do, get them out the side. Come September the teams who don’t get the arm chair ride off the umps - that they are used to - won’t last.

We are really good in close games. I actually can’t believe how well we do under pressure. But when you play your heart out, wrestle momentum, bust your nut, only for it to be all taken away due to soft frees - it’s deflating for a team. Umpires are rewarding staging and mentally weak players - ahead of 1%’plays and sacrificial acts. It’s hard for MFC because we don’t get the rub for a reason. The free kick count is lob sided against us all the time - because we don’t have players who play for frees, I mean, we have Spargo, and clearly this should be his last game for us till he changes this. It’s a weakness come finals at the G.
-
Yeah I tend to agree. I am really patient watching the footy. Never turn it off like a lot of ppl I know so when it gets close. Tonight I did. I thought we played really well. But it’s hard to win when the free kick count is one sided. I actually feel sorry for our guys.

GAMEDAY : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs

This is why I reckon a close game is brilliant. If we can win this I think we’ve finished the Bulldogs mentally. -

This is good. I want a close game. Spargo shouldn’t ever get a gig ahead of Bedford or Chandler -

We are a better side without Brown. -

This going to get ugly. The dogs are a level above us. -
Yep. Agree. Lobb is a waste of time.

I doubt we’d be in the market for a FA. The free agency market tends to get overvalued. We can’t really afford to pay overs.
-
Neither. I’d rather Meek on a low wage and chase a young key forward. If we lose Jackson we need to replace both his position in the short term, and his expected productive value in the long term. Meek ticks the first box. A young key forward fills a need for our side.
-
Get Acres in the Jackson deal. If we lose Gus, send Acres to the wing and Jordon to fill Gus role down back. We don’t lose too much there. Get Meek in the Jackson deal also to back up Gawn in the ruck.

AFLW: McNamara to miss 2022 season
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
A season long injury that doesn’t involve an ACL. Rare as hens teeth in AFLW. Best of luck to the young lass. -
We werent much better last year at this point. Just grinding out wins - which is absolutely vital. It’s frustrating to watch when you know we have other gears. But at the end of day, regardless of how we win at this point, supporters should be happy. Top 4 is the aim. We have some big games coming up.

Great win. We were ordinary. Wins a win.
-
Pickett is a game changer.
-
Put Petracca deep forward one out.
-
Brayshaw is always our best
-
We are bog ordinary. North and Hawks should’ve beat us early this year. This is our level. Sad because we have a great list
-
It’s conditional. On the condition we win the flag I could cop both leaving. If we don’t I couldn’t stomach Brayshaw leaving. Would really set us back culturally.
-
I stopped watching just after quarter time. Saw this coming. Melbourne like this year.
-
Rivers going well. Roan Steele and Laurie look classy. Steele deserves to be on a senior list somewhere.
-
That’s why we have the whip hand in this trade situation. Freo, you want Jackson, fine, offer more than WC, or we are sending him there. You don’t like that Luke? Have fun at North. No way North Melbourne let that opportunity pass. They cannot afford to.
-
We would want an early pick though. As you simply cannot replace quality talent with a couple speculative late first round picks (which Freo would have). Dealing with WC could get us a reasonable result. Drafting a quality kid could have its advantages. He could be just what our list needs. We seem a little stale this year (record aside). A real quality youngster to push our complacent young talent may be just what we need. To put an optimist spin on it. But realistically never great losing a player of Jackson’s talent.
