Port should be 8-9 goals up
-
But he has a dip.

Look, I think it’s expected. We need a midfield coach.
-
Petracca needed to start in the middle. Oliver is being blanketed and their better mids running rampant.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition

Amiss is a jet. Thoroughly impressed by that young lad. I hope he’s a target for us. Can play mid as well. Will be a top 5 player in that draft. I do understand the frustration of Freo supporters in respect to JVR, as he is a young KPF, looks to be exactly what Freo needed. Now their capped out with Jackson who is essentially Grundy to us - surplus to needs, but they used picks too. -
At this point, Petty is probably the better - and safer - option. And he’s on our list. No guarantees with the ACL, will take a couple years to come good regardless, teams will be into MG and still pay overs. Not worth it for us. We have Brown and Tmac still contracted next year.

Richmond are ordinary and were massively aided by one sided umpiring. That aside, it’s hard to see us beating the well coached sides this year. I do think we’ve had the best list in the league the past few years, but that alone isn’t enough. Sides like Collingwood, who are well coached, daring and agile, will always have our number. We are a one trick pony, we lack the versatility to switch it up. We made hard work of a faded veteran tonight. Wasting our window. Thank Christ we got Freos picks as they are deadset hopeless.

Good to see wiser heads somewhere in the coaches box prevail and shift Gus in the middle. Correlated with goals.

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years

Most important signing in a long time. Young kid appears to have it all. Opposition sides would be going a million plus a year. So good on him if he does stick with us. -
When up and running Harmes is an impact player for us. We needed him at his best last week. We need him at his best going forward. Suspect it’s why he’s been relegated. He either displays his class in the VFL and comes back in and has an impact, or he stays in the VFL. I’m glad he shown his class. Our midfield needs him badly. Harmes up and running is our 3rd best mid.

Would like to see some hungry VFL players get a turn.

Oliver and Petracca need to lift.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition

I do tend to agree about GC being a feeder club. I’d hope we could land Anderson, but sadly I doubt we’d have the cap space. Pickett offers better polish, and defensive pressure and that isn’t a disservice to Anderson as he is tracking to be AA. -

Freo won’t make finals. It’s more than dropping a couple games, they just haven’t moved the ball with flow, and struggle going inside 50. A problem that is compounded by not having great forwards if they do go inside 50 well. Many of their goals yesterday came from either opportune moments from goal sneaks or umpire frees. -

Freo have no forward line. -
The AFL Is a serious league. Its a weakness to be seen to laugh and joke. When you’re playing for sheep stations anything less than serious is seen as a flaw. What the women do in their league is obviously very different, it’s the AFLW is merely a token league.

Welcome to Demonland Kyah Farris-White

Moves well. Should have a good set of mitts, as he appears well coordinated judging from the basketball videos. There is a lot to like from a small sample size of viewing. Rather agile for a big fella. Fact he has played AFL as a kid really helps going forward. -
He is a talent worthy of consideration.

I thought North were a B-. The rating of D+ is a bit fanciful. They got rid of a problem child in JHF, and managed to get overs for him, and picked up Logue and Tucker, both of whom will be starting 22 players, and both are underrated.
-
I wouldn’t think so. 13 is a good position to be in this draft. And next years draft will be strong. We need to try bring a couple quality kids in. If we can land 2 out of 3 200 gamers goes a long way to securing our future.
-
Well done Lamb. Held his line. I am not big on the Grundy move but for 27 is at least good value on the trade tablet.

It’s not so much do not draft WA, or even interstate draftees. But more about doing our due diligence on a personal level. It doesn’t take Einstein to see that Jackson has lived a very sheltered existence. People say that he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but to my eye, it just looks as though he’s never had an opportunity to grow and become independent, and have that confidence to shine. I wouldn’t rule out every WA potential draftee on the merits of one.
-
We are a club known to bend in trade periods.

I remember Gawn telling a story that Dogga saw a pineapple and didn’t even know what it was. Sheltered kid. Wish we got more for him because he is worth far more than what we did get. But homesick kids with what I’d probably consider to be an unhealthy attachment to their mother - id rather them gone. I’m surprised she even let him play football to begin with. Basketball is a far safer sport. Then again, the eyes In WA aren’t on it. Deal done now so we move on. As a player I think Jackson was already a gun, and the potential is there to reach further heights. His inside work is up for with any midfielder, and he has an aggression rarely seen for a big man. Freo got a steal and a half. Hopefully as a club we learn our lesson a bit and put more resources in psychological assessments and the mental side of a player.

13 isn’t worth a great deal in this draft. And for the sake of next years which will most likely be around 13. I’d just let Jackson walk through the PSD, or enter the National draft. At some point teams need to set a strong precedent, especially given the increasing movement during trade period. The option should be 1. A fair deal, and 2. No deal you don’t get Jackson. I don’t really understand why football clubs don’t see the bigger picture and set stronger precedents.
