Let's just say Bomber's the good thief. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

I hope the AFL have the sense to understand they're way out of their depth this time. -
His disposal efficiency was actually very good, but he didn't launch attacks and 40 metres was a long bomb to him - probably why he's gone.
-
He made a sacrifice to take his chance, and he won't die wondering. But I do think the term "list-clogger" should go on the (censored) list.
-
What jackaub and I want to know is, why weren't Clark and Hogan rookie-listed in 2014? Jeez, this club! soft-headed, soft-hearted, I dunno.
-
If Trenners still can't play by this time next year, he'll have to go and he will go without complaint. Meanwhile, we could rookie Evans and if he shows a bit more he can be upgraded as a replacement for JT - assuming Harmes hasn't pushed his way in.
-
I was present when he king hit Roh Bail at Princes Park, so I don't think I'm in any position to question his account of his part in a 5 am nightclub brawl. Definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt.
-
Fitz unlikely, Bail - what were you thinking?
-
I don't believe we'll be messing about at the bottom of the list to gain a minimal advantage and annoy the whole list. Jetta will be upgraded, bet the rent. Jack T will go LTL - pushing him to the rookie list would be rightly seen as callous. There would have to be some mighty good rookies out there for us to write off our investment in Georgiou, Harmes and King, unless someone has a reasoned case for calling them list-clogging spuds. Add a new rookie and let them all vie for the available promotion. I recall writing something similar a couple of days ago, but sometimes the obvious takes time.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

My only comment: "only circumstantial evidence" is a phrase that implies that circumstantial evidence is second-rate evidence. Direct evidence is often unavailable - no eye witnesses, no blood tests, no records - but direct evidence can be "lost", destroyed or intimidated. Very many completely sound criminal convictions have been obtained on the basis of circumstantial evidence alone. "Beyond reasonable doubt" is a phrase that means that the balance of probabilities is very powerfully one way - BRD and BOP are not mutually exclusive, but points on a continuum. -
Rating our draft period - so far
Elusive Tunbridge replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would love to have brought in a star midfielder, but all hope of that went with Trenners' navicular. Two very good trades and we retained 2, 3 and 23 in a deep draft. Roos will have plenty to work with; our younger players and blokes like Michie and Pigdog will certainly benefit from the pre-season, and Hogan is virtually a new recruit. Bound to be a better 2015. -
Time to start aiming for eight: Chris Dawes
Elusive Tunbridge replied to jackaub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Snide and superfluous comments aside, Dawes' view is worth reading. He's really saying it's time for the team to raise the bar, and indicating that's what he expects of himself as well -
Seems the obvious way to go. We're already upgrading Jetta and Georgiou is ready in case of a defender going LTI, so the other rookies will know that good form at Casey can lead to an upgrade at any time. If Jack is clear at the end of the year he can get a contract extension, either a year or longer with an availability clause.
-
If MFC offered to pay Evans out and he insisted on remaining on the list, the only beneficiaries would be Casey 2s.

The satisfaction that comes with stability
Elusive Tunbridge replied to demon-4-life's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could not agree more. The expectation that things will go badly because they always have flies in the face of the most recent evidence. Many posters - I won't name any today - obviously get off on pouring scorn from the heights of a self-constructed dunghill. -
Any coach who thinks he's got the key to turning Jack Watts into a footballer is welcome to have a go.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
Elusive Tunbridge replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have a strong feeling we'll get HL in a three-way. At this stage we still have serious draft picks available for trade. Garlett virtually for free, and a nothing pick to upgrade Nev. Deeply disappointed with this trade period. -
Gone Girl. Bitter and twisted, which I thoroughly enjoy, and a very strong cast. 2 1/2 hours is a bit long, and the end seems to drag out. Maybe a function of the novelist being the screenwriter - couldn't kill her babies. A warning to those who don't like plot holes - this thing is a colander. If you can ignore the defects, it's worth a visit.

Yeah, it certainly makes for bad theatre - might as well cut Act 2 entirely. Maybe they're not doing it for our entertainment, though. -
AFL involved in Port Adelaide/Essendon Draft Rort
Elusive Tunbridge replied to deanox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Richard Nixon said "If the President does it, it's not illegal". If the AFL does it, it's not draft-tampering. -

Buck, do you have a source for that? -
We have Cross, we're getting Lumumba, and we don't want to jeopardise our Frawley compensation pick. No reason to have gone after him at all.
