  1. You just added to it to the pile. Its a pity your believable source did not tell you anything of note. Can you post your money making dreams in the general section?
  2. You could throw the 3 of them in a hessian bag and would not get a 1st round pick. Neither Moloney nor Wheatley have market currency. Benchmark them against TJ who traded was pick 16. Neither are in a bulls roar of that interest. Which clubs would go for a crippled Moloney and an uninspiring Wheatley for more than a last 2nd or 3rd rounder. Are both out of contract this year? There are going to be possibly others looked at.
  3. I am wondering why posters find the need to post speculative bits of nothing as if there is any skerrick of substance that could be held against them or is in the least bit informative or even barely reliable? Off the field we have a new CEO and changes will occur. On the field it has already discussed ad nauseam about the changes that will occur after Rd 6. Anyway who would have thought there would have been changes on or off the field? What a shock!!
  4. My only concern is winning no more than 4 games this year. I am comforted by what I have seen on that front so far this year. I am more concerned with the progress and development of younger players, the phase out of senior players who will not be around next year and the identification of those players that simply wont make it. Richmond on 10 points and Carlton on 8 points after round 5 gives me some comfort that they may not be eligible for 1st round PP. Therefore MFC will have picks 1, 17, 18 and I would say its a misere that we will trade for another first rounder at least and a second rounder in the draft.
  5. Yesteday's game was about the most pressureless game of football I have seen in a long time. The only sustained pressure was the pressure a player put on himself. This was the sort of game that many people tried and true players should perform well like Bruce, Green and Robbo. Green had a good game but I was disappointed he hit the post and the shanked a set shot when both were gettable. He should have been talking of six goals not 4. Green is a trier and not a world beater. He will never consistently dominate either the midfield of a KFP. It codswallop any one person wrecked Green's career up forward beyond Green. He was not good enough and Nasher's observation about Green disappearing was a consistent act when played up forward earlier in the year.
  6. Its been a bigger joke from the posters that had listed him for the axe at year end. The sooner we can get rid of that peanut Carroll the better.
  7. Richmond must be happy they went for Tambling and not Buddy when they were short of KPPs!
  8. Agreed. They will judge being linked with primates for what it really is. It would seem they are already exempt from meaningful appraisal now.
  9. Its a poor and incorrect asssertion to deflect from liking the Club's employees to primates. It is indeed a dark hour.
  10. If you had read many of my posts on this topic, I am actually more realistic than you ever dream of. Congratulations on your level of support. I would not touch the food though! However I just cant understand what an anonymous slur against the marketing team or seeing an implosion of interest in the Club, wave after wave of really bad press achieves. Does it achieve anything? Its got nothing to do so with realistic assessments of where we are at. Its a cheap shot and does little for the Club. You ask about the average supporter and what they can do? Well, they might hold the guns on the Club when its copping it and left right and center. Its not a matter of accepting medicrity but sticking fast with the Club. There are some real problems down there but some of the slag offs on the site do little to address the problems. There is scope when they are off camera and microphone. I think the expectation of on air plugs is lacking a dose of realism. He has a profile at the moment as a commentator. Rightly or wrongly he is seen a player who bled for the Club. I dont have a high regard for what he says but it is great he helps. And his comments of criticism. Well, he makes them on SEN and it is pitched at the LCD numbnut. While I dont agree with his view he is entitled to echo it because the SEN demographic seem to get their rocks off on it. Its great Diablo the Club has copped it for not have a marketing campaign and when it does seek to fight against the damning tide they are labelled cheap shots. We are at point where membership sales have dried up. Our takings at the gate are at risk of being appalling for the rest of the season. Carlton after a win are likely to get some numbers at the game. This season we could have a belter of a loss exacerbated by the cut off of funds from the AFL and the MCC. Why not maximise ithis game and seek to create some interest? Do you agree or do you have a better suggestion? No should the marketing department just sit on it hands then? Surely primates can do that. The Club are in a no win position on this. But go ahead join the ritualistic slur on the marketing efforts that is all to common on this site. Heavens knows what good it does but go right ahead. The Club is close to stuffed so why not get it in while you can.
  11. He is not even half way through the Rio Tinto takeover. And he has other corporate roles as well. And you are drawing the longest straw on this one.
  12. Too much sense wasted on far too little WM. The thread's author's last line is the most disturbing.
  13. Agree totally fat one. Well why dont you take it up with Mr Lyon. Ox is a football commentator not a full time bleeding mouthpiece for the Club. He is paid to express opinions and give his understanding of events. You dont have to agree with them. Its the peak of naivety that some spectators expect MFC to get a free ride of sorts just because ex-player is in the media. Good work and nice touch. The Club is down its cash strapped, had high staff turnover is likely to have costs cuts over functions and a "supporter" goes and has a cheap shot at the marketing department. But yes the ex players should be doing more for the club while the supporters take anonymous slags at an under resourced marketing department. Sorry, but I can see where the real chumps are.
  14. No worries. For your information here are the players that have worn the famous No 31 since RDB: 1965 – 1968 Ray Groom (No. 15, 1963 – 1964) 1974 – 1975 Bill Barham 1976 Paul Goss 1978 Peter Garratt 1979 Phil Carman 1983 – 1985 Kelvin Templeton 1990 – 1992 Rod Keogh 1996 – 1998 Donald Cockatoo-Collins 2000 - Paul Wheatley
  15. If you are going to insinuate an argument on a poster have the good sense to get it right. Here is what I wrote on another thread: Whats your concern with Argus CV and why would he not be as capable as any other AFL club President going around? Not that its important now....
  16. Jordan came from North as part of the Barassi package. Jordan had been instrumental in young player development at MFC. If you check my response was in reference to the dreaded 5 year plan. Jordan's work was part of it. It was not an insinuation that RDB coached the U19 nor a comment on Northey.
  17. I am concerned if BHP makes a takeover for Rio Tinto then his time will be limited. And Deanox, if Argus is in the chair it is naive to think he would not drive some changes at Board level.
  18. No the Ins and Outs thread was near the top and was converted to the official thread. There was no merging of threads nor was there an official thread in order to prevent duplication.
  19. Do the research DD, our home game attendances are poor. And dont fall back on the Collingwood games. See the numbers against interstate clubs and NM that are not inflated by opposition clubs. There is too much nit picking of good journalists article while completely missing the message. We probably will get 40+K but about 30,000 will be Carlton.
  20. They have not been saved yet. MFC and NMFC have just fallen further.
  21. If Don Argus has the time, focus and the passion, then he would make a very good president. He is not nicknamed "Dont Argue" for his soft demeanour. His contacts and influence in the business and corporate world are first class. Ethically he leaves Gutnick and Pratt for dead. I love Jimmy Stynes but while meanders about will I or wont I, I worry about whether he has the drive for it. His charity work is good. But I want someone hard nosed financially to make the really hard and tough decisions and be able to stare down the AFL when necessary without flinching. If it is true that Argus would run then I would support him.
  22. The Bulldogs membership is down 7,000 this year on last year and they are near the top at the moment. Rattling tins raises emotions but not enough to provide long term sustainable finances.
  23. *BUMP* Could someone post the team selections for the Carlton game here thanks when they come out? Thanks
