  1. Bode is not AFL standard. Unfortunately Carroll (ATM) and Meesen are contracted. Even if we did not have Carroll and Meesen, Bode was not competing against them and should be dispensed. Why would we keep another sub par player? Swamp, its not the depth that is extremely important. Its the development of your best 22. MFC has lots of depth. Bar the bottom six on the list its all around the similar standard. Generally not competitive. I am completely puzzled after a train wreck season, why supporters who you would think would want success think that clearly NQR players should somehow be kept on for another year. Unbelievable.
  2. Carroll has more misdemeanours than Sylvia and McLean put together. He is in a different league to the other two. His continual social problems this year and at his age suggest the exit door is next.
  3. I thought HT's last point was most pertinent in your regard.
  4. Hardly. If Weetra and Zomer are injured in the finals with Sandy they are eligible to receive up to approx. 50% of their annual contract amount in 2009. Why would the Club be stupid enough to risk the financial loss for players who are either delisted or will soon be? We owe nothing to Sandy now. Contact expiry date is 31 October 2008.
  5. Which trades and drafts would have prevented us from 1) injuries we faced in 2007 2) the collapse of the form of core champions Neitz, White 3) a Coach is his last year and chance at a flag and 4) the substantial lack of leadership and culture at the Club? The seeds to this problem were sown a couple of years before. By the start of 2007 bottoming out was not a choice, it was an outcome and result of the decision made earlier.
  6. He's kidding. He forgot to say that we would get back Shannon Motlop at the same time and give MFC real premiership experience in 2009.
  7. Its what every other Club would be doing. Its plain common sense. If Bailey said we were after the best type of a certain player rather than the best player then DB should be strung up. The fact is he wont. If your recruting team does its job and you take the best possible player at No 1, the side should get a player that is capable of being a star and who fitness allowing will be a 200+ game player. When I think of taking the best type of player I think of Luke Molan and I cringe.
  8. Junior (They said on the radio no one calls him Cyril)!
  9. Deanox, she is saying we could lose more than $1 million. You did a poor job at reading it. :D The final figure is still to be detemined. Caro has said it would be more than a $1million. It could still be more than $2 million. Its a crap result all round. The debt demolition is a wonderful effort. We need a sustainable business model for MFC. We dont have it ATM.
  10. How do you know what their expectations are and whether its shatttering or not. Spare the cliche of the dream. Both players have been battling and underperforming all year. Weetra in Sandy 2nds. Bode mainly in Sandy 1sts. If either cant work out that they were gone at year end then they are dim. I dont think they necessarily are and I dont necessarily know either way. Anything shattering should have happened months earlier when they werent make the cut for a game in the AFL. Its called reality. The delisting advice should have only confirmed what they should have already known. It was no bolt from the blue. Move on. They will.
  11. They should have been expecting it. Hardly shattered more disappointed. They should move on with their lives. They gave it their best shot and got a taste of AFL when many more fancy draft picks never get a game. They should be happy with that.
  12. I would not be so sure about that deanox. <_< There is a fair chance IMO that Valenti wont get elevated. Wonna more likely than Valenti but I wonder if Wona has been given some strict body conditioning goals/ fitness to attain before he is elevated.
  13. If PJ was a top notch 2nd ruckman, he's be a first ruckman. He plays 2nd fiddle to a another ruckman who does not have trade value. I hope but am not sure other Clubs will pay heavily for a 200cm utility than cant ruck.
  14. I suspect that Carroll will be with us in 2009 unless his contract has clear and unambiguous behavioural terms which can beproven that he has breached. Given we have Martin, Garland, Frawley, Warnock, Rivers (??) I think Carroll will be gracing Casey with his presence. And Casey fields is about as far as we can have him from the MCG.
  15. Both PJ and Jamar are contracted for 2009. They wont go to the PSD unless we pay them out. Neither PJ nor Jamar provide a forward option. If we get Warnock, it will not be matter of which one of PJ or Jamar we wont to keep but who we can actually trade. IMO PJ will be of more interest to other Clubs than Jamar as I hoping his nice to have skills camouflage his shortcomings in critical areas to another Club. We need a competitive and competent AFL ruckman now. Niknat wont fill that role for 3 years. There is no evidence to suggest that if MFC miss out on Warnock (either trade or PSD) that we would by pass Watts and Rich to get Niknat. Depending on how the Club views Spencer's development they may not see Niknat as a No 1 draft pick.
  16. Niknat will take 2 to 3 years to be ready to play. Warnock should be right Round 1 2009. Missing Warnock does not mean we will go for Niknat.
  17. Daniher had White who up to 2004 was a good ruckman. I think adage about players earning their chance is apt. Neither PJ nor Jamar have shown they are up to the standard and the concerns were there early on. And these concerns from their early stints under Daniher have been highlighted Bailey has been forced to play Jamar/PJ because White is finished. Its why we punted on Meesen (Good God!) last year and why we are going all out to get Warnock. We need a competent and capable ruckman. Neither of PJ or Jamar are that. If we get Warnock, we need to trade either Jamar or PJ. And it wont be a matter of which we can keep but who we could possibly trade this year.
  18. That would appear correct. I think Zomer would be lucky to get another year. Spencer from reports I trust has come along well this year. No reason why he would not be rookied again.
  19. Is there a 3 strike behaviour policy in the player's contract? Surely if there is, he must be on very shaky ground.
  20. Carroll is a known and avoided serial social problem amongst all other AFL Clubs. Carroll's brother played for Freo. Any hints why they avoided Nathan like the plague back then? He had poor off field form then in WA. He is known amongst other Clubs to be someone to avoid socially. Its does raise a question of judgement over MFC players who choose to socialise with Carroll when alcohol is involved given his habitual incidents. You are fooling yourself if you think a Club will trade for a delinquent like that. I know the Club is financially stretched but over the past year Carroll puts a compelling case on and off the field for an early payout of his contract.
  21. No lets benchmark it to the Consumer Price Index or Melbourne's water storage levels.
