  1. Whether its mutual or the act of the Club in response to flagrant and continual breaches of contract or Club/AFL standards it does have negative ramifications for the player. If its a Nathan Carroll type situation or similar, then the guy is a culture sore and problem. If its a mutual thing, then why did the player (and his manager) just cut up his contract with a Club without anything else set up to go to? It shows a lack of career smarts or advice. If he was at a low value point in his career then surely he would be trying to create some value on his head in his final 12 months. If he was paid out early, then that's not good for Thorp. Caveat emptor and suggest a pass on this one.
  2. Really, a year to go on his contract?? Serious issues or salary cap or both.
  3. Good Grief...then he is doomed. The curse is now upon him!
  4. Superstar......Jesaulenko like...... I hope you guys are right. But lets not get ahead of ourselves.
  5. Is this your own opinion or another plagarised effort of another posters work on another fan forum? FFS, we cant do that. It means paying out a contract early and we wont be doing that. Given we could not get Thorp for free in the draft if we wanted to, I am not sure that Rivers and pick 18 for only pick 9 is that good a deal.
  6. If Scully and Trengove are picked at 1 and 2 and are fit round 1, I cant see how either player would not be in the starting 18 if not 22. Given their abilities which we dont have currently, they would be certainties to play. The same would go for Ball if we get him. At least in the early games Junior will be back pocket/small defender. Strauss will fight for the midfield/HBF positions.
  7. AFL wants ratings as well. It all pumps the value of TV licence contracts. FWIW, I cant stand Richmond. Sod them.
  8. Its only manageable when its gone. The cost of the debt, interest, is a cost on our bottom line that MFC cannot afford as it struggles with a business model that can make sustainable profits into the future.
  9. Jurrah will definitely get more attention from opposition sides next year. Hopefully with a full pre season, he will have a greater tank to play out games. He will be physically tested this year and it will be interesting how he copes and responds to it. Otherwise its a fantastic story and he has some really good skills and the brain to use them. I hope he can switch on for a full game. I will watch with interest. Could be become a real drawcard for MFC if his career development continues.
  10. ....lacks pace. I struggle to see where he fits in a defensive unit. Too small for the talls, too slow for the smalls. Has some handy skills but not enough for AFL.
  11. Its about expected bums on seats not where you finished last year. Despite its lack of success in the past 28 years, Richmond have a huge supporter base (thanks to the 5 flags in 13 years -1967 to 80). They do get numbers to games despite the crud of a side they are. And it does not take much success from them for the crowds to swell.
  12. Dont know about that. But he was well regarded when he was drafted.
  13. And that's the rub with Robbo. The days of measuring a FF/KPF on purely the scoreboard are gone. A FF/KPF must be able to play offensively and defensively as part of what he delivers.
  14. Thanks Old. They still have him on their list atm and they dont have to use a draft pick on him. If he nominates for the ND, he would then have to come off the Saints list by 10 November wouldn't he? If he elects to go into the PSD, then he would also have to be removed from the date of the election to do so?
  15. No. He is out of contract 1 November. He is a free agent. St Kilda have no cooling off period. After Nov 1, St Kilda have no more rights on him than any other Club.
  16. Green is not a KPP. Green is not a gun Midfielder and in fact is not a gun footballer. He is an honest hard at it player with generally good kicking who will be part of a midfield/HB rotation with a player like Bruce. He might pinch hit up forward from time to time but he isnt a KPF by a long way and has failed as a permanent forward early in his career. Too much fantasy from 2000 finals.
  17. Despite Robbie F's explanation, from my understanding, no we wouldn't have. I believe the club rated Cotchin and Morton higher and had Kruezer at 4 or 5.
  18. That would be one question Luke Ball has to answer.
  19. realistic tilt at a premiership in the next 2 years?
  20. Or Kyle Cheney? It will also depend on whether you will use PSD 1. If for example we were to use PSD 1 on Ball then Pick 34 may not be used. Does anyone know if McNamara, Bartram or Cheney have been re contracted yet?
  21. All contracts expire on 31 October each year. Not bad for someone who said we should roll the dice on Bradshaw. The good news is that he is prepared to talk to MFC. This is to be expected if he is to explore his options. Its early days. MFC has a good case and we will see how it unfolds. I dont think you can read anymore into it at this stage. I think you should hold back your "excitement" as you dont know what he wants at this point.
  22. While I am excited with what I have seen with Grimes and Morton, its only 2 years and I think too early to tell. Cotchin is very good though. And Masten has played some promising games for WCE. Taylor and Pears have been very good up back while Palmer was good in his first year til injured. Keen to see Henderson in action. Taken 6 by the Lions in 2007
  23. Its not so much body frame.... its the frame of mind.
