  1. It frees up a spot on the list from a player MFC dont think will be a serious AFL consideration this year. Either way Meesen was not the answer and was earmarked to go in 2010 regardless. He might not be the only one. Martin will get more time in the ruck regardless of the Meesen decision.
  2. With your wayward accuracy Stinga your effort has the opposite meaning and is a compliment.
  3. I think both players share our view that no club will go within a bull's roar of them.
  4. They can still take their chance in the ND but as a rookie they have at least some chance to be elevated in 2010 on the back of good performance and injuries to competing players. Realistically you would have to think they are finished in the AFL. And this allow MFC to retain two of Bartram, TMac and Cheney.
  5. Buece's elevation allows you an additional rookie not a primary list player.
  6. The rule changed recently Nugget. The comments were valid at the time.
  7. Based on where you're drawing conclusions from reading tealeaves might be good too.
  8. They play out their current contracts as a rookie or at another Club. Check the mature rookie thread.
  9. We gave pick 38 for him. And he has been at best ordinary at MFC and terrible at worst. He is currently with a LT ankle injury. Why would any Club chase a player who after six years cant crack a game in even the worst club and has a body that cant handle AFL? If he was not contracted in 2010 he like Newton would have been delisted this year.
  10. See thread on drafting board. Thread closed
  11. Thanks for filling in the gap on Adelaide. You are right. Only backs the point. I am not sure at Shield level Krejza has been that convincing to be back in the selectors vision just yet. Thanks for that. The problem is that not only do you lose your Captain for a Test but any further infringements involve heftier penalties. Its a really tough law.
  12. About as relevant as picking your Tattslotto numbers based on the numbers drawn on the previous 10 weeks. And if he is not prepared to come to us in the PSD, I not sure we should be wasting pick 18 on him. If Ball had wanted to play for us he would have met with us. His decision to go into the ND is his only real way to Collingwood. And Hannibal's information would seem consistent with the decisions taken to date.
  13. His 12 wickets were a great effort but there were some prevailing factors at hand that contributed to the unusual haul. His lead up form to that Test had been poor, really poor. The first Test in Australia after he returned was a green top in Brisbane. Australia bowled seven overs of spin in the game. The next test they went in with Hauritz who justified his selection with an accurate tight performance that was beyond Krejza. You cant play a McGain or Krezja when they simply do not put up Test standard performances. Both players were woefully under the level required. Who'd be a Captain for that? You dont know that at all. The rules have changed since Taylor, Chappelli and Waugh were around and the penalties for breaching over limits are severe and they mount with each penalty. The extent of the severity of the penalties can lead to the suspension of Captain for one or more Tests plus individual and team fines. I think its a horrible position for a Captain. If I remember carefully, had Ponting breach the requirements then he would be suspended for the next Test, fined and Australia loses its premier batsman and captain for the next test in the tough climate of India
  14. I think placed as mature rookie its saying that "injury or not" we are unlikely to select you for AFL football in your final season. Fully fit, I think Meesen is a fringe AFL player at best.
  15. Not necessarily. Hawthorn may have known Thompson to be moody/sullen/tempremental etc but not aware of his diagnosis of depression. North could have become aware of his behaviour and found out it adversely affected his game and not offered as much. If Hawthorn were fully aware then under privacy laws they would be unable to release the information to North without the player's prior consent. If that was the case then its possible that the information under wraps could have been subject to leaks. As North were chasing Hay at the same time then their antennas should have been up anyway for behavioural issues.
  16. There has been a rule change where a Club can have up to two mature age rookies. They can move an experienced player to the rookie list whilst still paying out the final year of their contract. MFC already have Hughes as a mature age rookie. There is room for one more. I reckon it would in Newton. But I am not surprised by mention of Meesen. If the rumours of his continued wretched luck with injuries continues then his slim hope of AFL is over.
  17. No you have passed many of your opinions as statements of fact and I have established a number of them as pure myths. We cant afford contracts for 36 players and cannot provide them with enough cricket to justify their professional status. Krezja could not survive leaking over 4 runs an over against the Sth Africans and took 1-240. He is not sustainable at Test level unless he can contain as well as take wickets. Mind you Ponting gave him 50 overs in the 1st Test in Australia..More fool punter.
  18. While there has been situations of question, would you have given McGain another Test? There are actually about 25 contracted players for the ACB. There are at least 20 selectors and scouts covering every state. There are some good cricketers but few of the calibre we have been lucky to witness in the past decade. Your 35 years of cricket should have taught the goals arent mutually exclusive. The last week has shown that to absolute crap. You really do come out with some ignorant garbage. ...because he does not always bat first when he wins the toss. But you rated Warne as an Australian Captain.....
  19. Get over it. Unless he is prepared to meet with MFC then we are speculating over little. MFC have made an approach to his manager that MFC are interested and we have made numerous comments in the Press stating this.
  20. I thought that when Barassi went to Sydney. However I thought Barassi's influence in a non AFL state was good for Sydney at that time.
  21. Richmond or any other clubs would be fools to think that. Your proposed answer does not address the question. The interviewer is going to say "So what if Ball says no after you talk to him?" I think Bailey's comments are plausible and sensible in the circumstances. Why would we pick up players from other clubs that are not up to AFL standard or injury plagued? We dont recruit AFL players for the sake of doing so. I think that is more your issue. You seem to be getting worked up by whatever you hear on SEN. Chill and change the dual. Agree. This is a long drawn out storm in a teacup.
