  1. I trust Pickering would utter the same "scathing" comments about lower teams like North Melb. Oh no, of course he needs to protect a conflict of interest. Getting fussed by these commentaries is like getting teary over Neighbours.
  2. How do you know what went on? Your Demetriou highway is just another cheap conspiracy theory that panders to your lack of knowledge on the issue. The fact is irrelevant as the precedent establishes that 2nd years players do actually move clubs. Even if we got picks 2 and 18 MFC are still stuffed because we lose a young player who was rightly rated the best draft player in his year and has shown that he has all the atributes of being elite. However it is better compensation but does not ease the pain. I knew you probably wouldnt get it. lol. And your implication is also wrong as well. lol. lol. Well done for trying to misstate what I had said about other posters. lol (its catching). Once again you align yourself with some criticised element on the site. Why do you do it? From the position MFC is in now then by pushing the issue with an in principle agreement. lol. Is an in principle agreement an agreement you have when you dont have an agreement? lol. His management has already said he will consider his contract at year end. Doing what you have said will surely push he and his management away from MFC which would be bad. If he refuses to sign then it going to look pretty stupid on the Club if he has not signed with GWS. Its a terrible predicament but it calls for wiser heads in this situation. And you are right Nathan Thompson is not one of them. lol you jokester. Does not explain why you need to do it. Do you have any other tricks?
  3. I am going to keep it very simple for you First you say "Nobody knows the true facts" when its a case that you dont know the true facts and you dont know what information the Clubs had or how long they had to consider the vote. Clearly your factless festering has you convinced buts its based not on substance and it happens so often and its pointed out by many posters but you keep doing it. Its truly weird.
  4. [ Agree. I just feel we had more to lose than any other club with Scully, Trengove and Watts. We should have rallied the other Vic Clubs because clearly they all have something at stake. Truly do you ever stop to actually get the true facts of what actually happened? Rather than concocting naive (and while I was asleep) conspiracy theories that even the most foolish person would say "I think there's something not right here".
  5. Put simply they were 1 to 2 year players that chose to leave the Club they were drafted by. The reason for leaving is neither here nor there. Its happened before. There is a precedent. In fact Schwab was involved in the White deal. So why it could not have been considered in the assessment of the rules is a disaster.
  6. On one hand you seem to remember but then remember waking up.... Do you know if it was drink spiking?? FWIW, both the GST and expansion of the AFL was in the media for at least 2 to 3 years. You must have dozed for a while. Its a decision that was not subject to members approval nor should it have been. However Club officials should be kept accountable for their actions in regard the AFL decision.
  7. White, Buckley and Grant for starters. Schwab was even involved in the White deal. So it begs the question: Why didn't MFC assess the potential of the rule against the talent on our list? For all that was sacrificed to get the young talent, we have potentially squandered the benefit frivolously.
  8. Great when your "captain" goes out on the fizz and makes a social embarrassment of himself. Battled to hold the VC role. It cant if the players vote for captain. On the same performance crtieria then Scully is odds to be captain of GWS at some stage. Short Term - No Long Term - Quite possibly.
  9. Its a bad oversight. Almost on the par of salary cap breaching. I would have thought the first consideration of any CEO is what would be the impact of the rule on my Club's list and what would I be compensated with? On that basis, the lights should have been flashing at MFC. Given past experiences with high draft picks that have walked from their first club.
  10. Exactly. Given the history with White and Buckley, its an inexplicable excuse. And given MFC had a swathe of young talent, how in the hell did they think they could not be targetted? Naive. This is very poor if its true. Staggering in fact. Wrong. The Club should be trying to sought out this mess the best they can and when they have it agreed and resolved to advise supporters at that point. You can go and assume that they are sitting back and have no back bone. I would not expect any sympathy what so ever from Vlad given what we were obviously doing 2 years ago.
  11. Spot on Rogue. Its a stinker. And MFC are on the wrong side of it. Who represented MFC in those discussions? Schwab? Clearly a young list like ours would have been fertile picking for GC/GWS.
  12. Where they were chosen originally is irrelevant to the fact that there is a mechanism that would "compensate" the losing Club. Clearly Scully has yet to reach his potential and the compensation may not accommodate the future value of him like an established player in Ablett The issue was being highlighted was that saying to a currently contracted player than you cant play until you sign the contract for next season has implications for Scully as it does for all other players. And applying just to Scully when he and his management have already said that he would wait until year end is a perfect way to encourage him to go North (if he has not signed already) and sends a message to other players and their managers as to how MFC may conduct future matters. Not a sensible option. Well done. In highlight my opinion you might be guilty of double standards. I am not sure why feel guilty of hand wringing but so be it. And where have people been denied the right of comment?? If they dont want their comments evaluated on this forum by others then they should get a blog and turn the reply box to off. But FWIW, there has been absolute rubbish on this thread as there has been on some of the other ad nauseam threads on Scully. But remember its just my opinion and there are some contributors that are very good and provide thoughtful insightful views. But like a number of threads they are in chronic short supply. Also, why do need to post in Comic Sans font? IMO it adds little to the site and is unnecessary (Chill...I started with IMO! B) )
  13. Exactly. Some of the hand wringing on here is more disturbing than the uncertainty over Scully's contract. Agree Rogue. This Scully only plays if he signs stupidity is the ultimate gun to the foot of list management. Its a really dumb concept with terrible possibly unintended consequences on the remainin playing group.
  14. Rubbish on both accounts. People seem to forget we are still a financially straightened Club. There is a fantasy persisting that because we have paid off the debt that everything is rosy. It isnt. Cost is very much a consideration. Malthouse would be on very good money at Collingwood and unless he wants to do charity, MFC are going to have to raffle alot of free range chooks each year to have him. And the reason we ended up with Bailey is that MFC chose the best of the Coaches available at the time.
  15. If the position of Coach is to be reviewed at year end then so should the leadership positions. On performances to date, I am not sure Brad Green, Davey and Rivers are in the rightful positions on the leadership group. While I would have Green in the leadership group, I am not sure about the others. The captain for 2012 is a vexing one if the incumbent it to be replaced. We have a swathe of youngsters who I think could be good future captains for MFC in particular Grimes, Trengove, Frawley, Watts. However they would not be readty for the baptism of fire in 2012. Despite his off field stupidity earlier this year, I am warming to Moloney as Captain. But he is not a perfect choice. Yeah I know he bleeds red and blue (what ever that really means and which players dont bleed it!!) but he's a player whose decision making is not as good as his passion and he goes missing in critical games after looking the goods against weaker sides. But its a year by year proposition until one of the younger brigade shows their leadership colours more prominently Jones's decision making and disposal is worse that Beamers for mine and once our midfield matures I wonder how he will maintain his role. And I would rather let Sylvia let his football talk consistently for him. Not a captain for mine. And Jamar should be let to focus on his game and does not from my witnessing seem to be a natural leader of the players. But I admire the Russian for what he has done for his game.
  16. The MFC assessment of whether to stick with Bailey or not will depend upon the assessment of the whole of the year and whether they believe he is the right man to coach them for the next 2 to 3 years. Another poster sensibly wrote that MFC assessment of the right man to lead us is going to depend upon the other options. The availability (and cost) or not of a Malthouse or a Roos may improve/weaken Bailey's chances to continue as Coach in 2012.
  17. Agree Nasher. Great post....LOL This thread says more about some of the posters here than it purports to say about Tom Scully. Amazing
  18. With due respect, people must be dreaming if they think WCE with a full fit list are cellar dwellers. Cox, Kerr, Embley, La Cras, Priddis, Rosa, Glass make a fair top six/seven. Add when you add the maturing skill of Kennedy, Shuey and Hurn they are a fair outfit when fit. And if posters dont realise....WCE had 800 more games of experience and 2 yrs of age of MFC on Saturday... They are further along the evolutionary cycle than are with proven premiership champions in their senior list.
  19. Well said Nasher. And as much as I like Jordie, the kid is only 21 and played 26 games. I am not sure about consistency in 2011. He has missed so much football, came back had 2 rusty games, played well against Essendon and was ordinary vs the Pies. There are more sensible options.
  20. Rivers is slooww over the first 30 metres and gets torched on the lead. Isolated one out and Rivers is always going to be exposed. And gee there are some really short memories on this forum. Warnock has been terrible 1 on 1 this year and was not a clear selection.
  21. Nailed it. All in your own words too.
  22. Hey, maybe they're young and inexperienced and have to learn that you must make tackles stick. ....
  23. There is nothing worse than threads bleating about the umpires when their performance was nothing to complain about when the focus of concern should be the performance of MFC. Amazing
  24. Bailey's obsession with recruiting midfielders and not talls.!!! Gawn, Jurrah, Martin, Campbell, Cook, Fitzpatrick and Davis might suggest otherwise.
  25. Not a bad summmary Joeboy. I thought Bennell was put to the sword by Krakoeur. Mind you with 74 inside 50s it was not a good place for defenders.
