  1. I think with 7 games to go its time to make or break these guys. Agree that they should be given every chance as playing in Casey must be soul destroying.
  2. Mitchie in for anyone against his old team. Poetic.
  3. Seriously? Having watched nearly every game this year I would think that it would barely go any worse without the 10 VFL players out there (with the exception of Smith). I don't know how I would feel if I was an aspiring AFL player and had to play in this rabble week after week. You have virtually no possibility of showing your wares when any attacking effort is rebuffed back over your head. The ball use in this game is terrible (including the MFC guys today). They do not play together well, clearly do not know each other. In these conditions you have to work together, particularly into the wind. But the coaching has also let them down. Willy had 2 back in the defence in the second quarter I don't think Casey had one extra back in the first although Toump may have been. I really do not know how anyone can read anything from these games, there is no possibility for development for the players you mention. I give up but admire you people here at Demonland who keep hanging in.. Cheers
  4. Get somebody loose behind the ball Welsh. 27 points down already with a prevailing wind.
  5. I can't see how the five named ins will be much good after they have payed the Casey game. Takes a long time to get from Casey Fields to Etihad. Why do they do this? All are named in the Casey team as well as the Dees.
  6. All 5 are also named in the Casey team 62 D. Terlich 80 A. Georgiou 43 D. Welsh FF 2 D. Conway 14 S. Clouston 10 L. Masters HB 56 D. Nicholson 1 E. Panozza 46 J. Strauss HF 3 B. Davies 29 B. 7. Viv knows both Wallis and Libba really well. He was their captain in the private school rep team. Don't know where the query over his defensive game comes from because he was totally defensive in the 1st Qtr against Box Hill. I don't reckon he got a possession in the first qtr but ended up with 30 , 5 tackles etc and should have got a goal but for a rabbit umpire calling his shot on goal a point. ABC replayed it and showed it was not touched. Really don't know what game Allison was at but all pundits have said Viv was BOG.
  8. I think this whole discussion around the relevance or value to MFC is just shifting the blame somewhat. After all North has no one team acting as its reserves with their two players spread around a few teams in the VFL. Yet they are in the 8. Casey up until this year have been finalists for years. At least we have just one team to concentrate players in and nurture. As I said (poorly) before the difference is the VFL level Casey players that remain from last season and the fact that we seem too treat them as second class when they are integral to the development and maintenance of our reserves. We have to get our players to buy in when they are in the Casey team. I think JKH illustrates my point perfectly.
  9. No mention of Georgiou here either. This is the 6th Casey Game I have watched live this year. I have read a lot about how the Melbourne listed players are not knocking on the door. I would have to say that whilst they make up a significant part of the team they are hamstrung by the definite step down in class with the VFL listed players. Today they really got found out. Turnovers, dropped marks, very poor decision making. Its not aided by what appears to be a game plan that is just kick it forward and hope. Having said that today I thought JKH was poor and looked a little disinterested. Blease looked panicky. He has great run as many have pointed out but usually ends up getting into trouble because he goes that bit too far. Casey also got the rough end of the pineapple from the umpiring. Some of the fifty meter penalties had me scratching my head. Being at the game they were difficult to comprehend. Would like to know what the TV guys thought. However all these things do not excuse the poor second half and the surrender in the last. I don't know what the plan for all of the players is but one thing that I believe should be asked of the MFC boys is that they take on greater leadership. There are no voices. No revving up on the ground and very little animation when things go right. They might be playing in a sadly depleted team right now but they can contribute. I don't know any players like you guys do but it seems to me that they don't see that they have a leadership role in the twos and they are there for themselves. This is something I notice on this site where people say the result is not important only that the MFC players get better. No skin in the game and if I was a Casey player I would be annoyed. Instead of seeing it as a penalty (not the right word) it should be seen as an opportunity to be the senior in the team as most MFC players seem to be young (everybody is young to me). That's my two bobs worth. Cheers
  10. Bit harsh on Georgiou. Thought he was passable. Or did I have him mixed up with somebody else.
  11. Bit hard when on the HFF for the second qtr. Delivery in has been abysmal. Agree with an earlier post they dont play as a team. Back line run it well but with no sense of purpose.
  12. Seriously? His Game for Freo against Geelong was a half, in a team that was being smacked before he got on the park. In that game he had 13 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 3 Goal assists they kicked 4 in the half he was on. He has played 2 games for MFC, the firsts a credible 18 possessions the second he had an eyelid split in the first minute , three stitches and no much needed contact lens. MFC was beaten by a truck load and the powers that be felt a 2.5 gamer was one of the two totally responsible for that loss and he got dropped. Played the next game against Essendon and had his jaw broken in the first qtr played the game out including the last two clearances that resulted in two goals that won the game. This week against the Coburg his position was always the D side of the contest. I asked him about this and his response was "Have you ever played at Peel".
  13. Not worried about Viv. He is a 200 game player. But watching some of the the others they were salt and pepper. Jordie has no awareness and was caught because he showed no respect.. Brilliant footballer in the VFL but guess what there are some that are just as fast and they deserve better. Blease fast but his feet work faster than his brain.. Got to say that the thing I have noticed this year under PR is the belief in the blokes wearing the Red and the Blue. They actually trust each other and are kicking to the jumper. Fantastic because trust and respect is the hallmark of great teams.
  14. I was at the game with parents of a a couple of players. My biggest complaint is that some seem to think they are gods in the reserves and over did it. No respect for the opposition. I would make one observation on Brett's comments. I can't remember many disposals Mitchie had where he did not end up taking the crunch yet had probably 3 turnovers in his 34 touches. Hard to be defensive when you are picking yourself up of the ground. The group I was with thought Mitchie was easily best and they had their own sons on the ground. Perhaps there are too much expectatios=ns on a 2.5 game player who spent 60% of his game on the half forward line.
  15. I think he got two weeks.
  16. You at the same game? JKH has been very ordinary. And fo Gawd sake Salem has had 4 touches, yeah one was a goal but jeez.
  17. are we forgetting the goal we got in the 1st Qtr?. It was touched clearly but the 3rd ump gave it anyway. Poor umpiring comes around and goes around. Their poor kicking kept us in it. Has to be said.
  18. Michie had a plate inserted in his jaw and two wisdom teeth removed. Hardly surprising he did not train. Has now been cleared for non contact training (Wednesday)
  19. He will probably have surgery and then get a cast followed by a moon boot. Its caused by heavy loads and there is no way that he has had it for long. Very painful and he would barely run out a game. And just for the inquisitive, Roman Legions were prone to it until they cut the soldiers pack weight to 60kgs (I think its kgs or is it lbs) Modern soldiers don't carry any more to this day. If it knits he will be fine. It took James Herd two surgeries but it repaired.
  20. This is the same injury that Viv Michie had in WA. Got bad news he will be in a moon boot for months and wont be able to do any running. It must be hard to spot because Viv complained that his foot was hurting and it took Freo about 6 weeks to spot it. Meanwhile he played in the WAFL and probably did more damage. Hopefully JT has the same success as Viv.
  21. And $600 win as well.
  22. Michie had his jaw fractured in the first quarter. Probably had some effect but he got the last two clearances that resulted in the two goals won the game. Fair bit of guts from a 3 game player. Tagged heavily throughout.
  23. Don't know what game they watched but neither were in the top 8. Trengove was okay in the last quarter when put in the middle, Toumpas was so so all game. Neither were standouts. Whilst they won Casey seem to have the same problem that MFC has. Slow decision making. Clearly a lack of trust in each other. Pick out a familiar player regardless of position which results in turnovers. They need to made to kick to the jumper. Its not happening now and the best option seems to be ignored a lot. You see kicks to players out numbered, covered or in one case today with his back to the ball. Some of the senior players look like they are waxing in the schoolyard. I reckon its time to play as many of the newbies as can be gotten onto the park. Sure they are green but they are not going to go any worse than what we saw today. Time to break the old boys club.
  24. No but he was fairly robust on the boundary with some mates.
  25. Watched the Scorpions thought Jamar was okay. Pretty scrappy.Thought no.17 was best along with 20. Not much from Trenners Toumpas, Mitchie although Trengove played in the middle in the last quarter and was better. Jetta good in patches but did not see anything to replace the current 22. Dawes is moving freely. Some heavey tagging on Michie and Trenners when on the ball.
