  1. Great thread @fr_ap, do you happen to have a list of what was seen as the best 22 from each club? Was it Champion data's list or something your contact came up with? I'd be interested to see it expanded out to include the 4 emergencies or even the best 30 from each club. Just because I think, not only have we had injuries to our best 22 but also our depth has been non-existent. Regularly at Casey we've had less than 10 AFL list players, including first year players such as Jordan, Bradtke and Bedford etc. who are nowhere near making the AFL side at the moment, Even on the weekend Richmond's VFL side had something like 18 AFL listed players to our 9.
  2. I couldn't see him going to the gold coast, if you've ever warn a helmet playing then you know it's like playing on a 25 degree day when it's only 10 outside. Doing it up where it's consistently hotter will melt his brain
  3. I think they already are, can't just be coincidence that Geelong have gone to [censored] after norf got rid of their Scott??
  4. So are you saying Freo are after Jetta for Langdon and Hill for a 2nd rounder? Sounds ok, if Jetta wanted to go back to WA, but it's not really been mentioned before.
  5. If we bring in May and hore and don't loose lever, then I'd love to see Frost go in there. Try some Frost ball from the centre with no expections
  6. I don't agree with those calling for May going forward, if he's back the more games they get with him and lever add in Frost, hore etc. down back together the better it'll be for next year. Don't mind omac going forward because like petty I think they are additions to the backline not keys. I'd bring in May and hore and move out Preuss and omac. Put hunt forward again and try going smaller down there
  7. Surely that could only happen in games we're involved with???
  8. Sorry mate, Adelaide and the dogs play in the last round, so even with a draw one of them will be above us. Looking good for 9th though
  9. Gold coast have the most interest and connection so far. We've been mentioned because of the link to his brother but I'd prefer Langdon than SHill
  10. Think most want him to stay, it's just what he's asking for and what he could be worth would be the question? Is that why there's nothing happening with his contract???
  11. With any contract there's the 3 things at play, what the club thinks they are worth and are happy to pay ($ and term); what the player thinks they are worth and what other teams think they are worth. I just haven't got a sense if it's the club waiting, Frost demanding more or other clubs (via his manager) who are giving him reason to think. It was reported in some articles about our interest in BHill that we're weighing up how much we think he's worth, and maybe a delay on Frost and the low offer to Jones is about lining up the ducks for other moves and they see Frost as a piece that will fall into play later on?? The danger with that is isolating the player, like it sounds like Adelaide are doing at the moment.
  12. Wondering if he sees himself (or his agent see's him) in that 10-14 bracket already and is asking for $$$ and a term that reflects that? There's just be no noise about his contract which is very strange for a guy who's played all season?
  13. I think Lever is fine for a guy coming off a knee reco, he's never going to be in that 'key defender' role, 3rd tall is his best position and the one I'm sure we got him to do. He is a key to the backline, if we have May being aggressive in not only taking on the oppositions key forwards but also the game, then we need another tall to stand the other tall forwards, and Lever can float in taking intercept marks and setting up the backline. I think another summer will bring the backline together even better, but happy there getting a few games together at the end of the season.
  14. I do wonder if he's looking at this contract as one where he can load up a bit. He wouldn't be on huge money at the moment I wouldn't think, when he last signed he was very much a fringe player. So maybe he's asking both for a longer term and bigger dollars????
  15. Just wondering if anyone on here has heard anything about the contract status for Frosty? He's still unsigned and I can't find any information anywhere to show that they are even in talks. I would imagine he's one on our list who could have a bit of currency, so are we holding off to see if he could net us something, knowing we also got OMac, Petty and even Hore as taller defenders, assuming May and Lever are our keys and those others are pieces to fit around them. If they do see him as potential trade bait, what's his worth? We paid an 2nd rounder for him but got back a late 2nd and a 3rd. Remarkably we got Frost, OMac and ANB for a pick who ended up being Pat McKenna, who made his way to us a few years later.
  16. If GC get a priority pick and we go back to 3 then I reckon 3 + 2020 2nd for pick 8, Hill & Langdon would be around the mark.
  17. They very well might have asked the question, then GWS managed to ship out Scully, Lobb and Shiel who were all on much bigger contracts so they no longer might have had a need to get rid of Finlayson, without getting a really good return for him. Unless you know the full details, wanting a player and not getting them is not always a missed opportunity and rhetoric such as the above is just about having another shot at the club.
  18. At least Jones will have a decent crack if it's his turn to go, while Ellis will be waiting on the outside.
  19. His biggest issue is that he'll find the ball but mostly bomb it high and long, my brother in law is a big tigers fans fan and when he was in and out of the side last year kept saying he could be one of the most damaging players in the league if he knew how to lower his eyes. He's been a fair bit better this year, but this issue still holds him back from being elite. While some have had the same opinion with Ed Langdon, clearly we're in the market for wingers who run all day, so that's why were linked. Being a free agent is handy as well.
  20. No, but I'd give him 1 with incentives for a 2nd. Wasn't ever pushing for him it was a response to a question about who else was available. I also don't subscribe to the myth about the Hawks doctors being some kind of miracle workers who have better abilities then any others in the industry.
  21. Well aware of that, but if he goes it'll likely to the Hawks for a 4th rounder, as another salary cap dump, which I reckon would be worth the gamble on a 1 year deal on not much. He's best in 2016/17 was seriously good.
  22. They picked up Fogarty, who can't get a game, then through a series of other trades used the other pick to get a swap of first rounders with Carlton this year. We also picked up Petty with the 2nd we got back. So far Petty has shown as much if not more than Fogarty and thier plan to get a top 2 pick has been beautifully destroyed by us (in fact I think that's the real reason we've dropped down, we've taken one for the comp and ensured that the Crows don't come out looking good with their early trade).
  23. He'll be biding his time waiting for Ryder to be traded and Westhoff to retire, plus Port showed incredible support when his parents died, so I doubt he'd be actively wanting out. He also is very inconsistent, much like Weid really.
  24. We have the following who are under 24 - Trac, Brayshaw, Lever, Harmes, ANB, Lockhart, JSmith, Hore, OMac and KK, plus Salem and Hunt have only just turned 25. So we have a pretty strong core who have all played under 100 games. At some point you need to put experience around a young core, which is what we've done after going heavy in the draft for year (up until 2016 anyway. None of those guys listed above have played over 100 games yet, but a lot are in the 70s or 80s. Clearly they've loaded up trying to win, and got us to a prelim with that strategy last year (that seems to be completely forgotten around here). While this year had been bad, getting younger players in isn't going to fix that or complement what we've had.
  25. Keith was originally part of the Suns first intake as a key marking forward, but then went off to play cricket, then when he came back to the game he was tried first forward then settled much better down back. Unless the club thinks he could go back to a forward role (similar to TMac and Petty) then I see no reason at all for him.
