Why would any club pay wages of an opposition player who they've essentially been outbid on? MFC: Jesse we'll pay you $900k per year, please stay. FFC: Jesse, come to us and we'll pay you $1 mil a year. Jesse: Ok Freo I'm in, go and deal with my club. FFC: MFC, can you please help us out by paying $200k a year for your player that we've offered more for? It doesn't work like that.

His contract runs out at afternoon tea tomorrow, and if no trades are done for him, he'll be available on the tearoom bench. If nobody picks him up, he'll be de-plated and go back in the cupboard, at which time he can move to anyone with the munchies. There were early rumours that Phil Scully was looking to do a trade for him, but suddenly some KFC became available and all his decent picks are going on that. Regardless, I can't see him getting through the pre-work session, Phil's generally first in the kitchen of a morning.

To me it looks like we're ready to accept unders so we can do a trade for May. It needs to be made clear to Freo that if May is taken away from us by another club, the unders will no longer be available, and they'll need to produce more than what's been discussed. We'll be in a position where we need to start looking for a next option after May, and that will probably cost us more, caused by them, so their cost.

On a side note, considering the trade period influences components of the following years FIXture, I'll be very disappointed if Freo aren't playing us at the MCG next year.

Would this work? Brisbane give pick 5 for Neale. Freo give pick 5 and 11 for Hogan. Freo and MFC also swap 2019 1st round picks. Melbourne give pick 5, 11, and 2019 1st round pick (from Freo) to Gold Coast. Gold Coast give MFC May, KK, and pick 2. MFC use pick 2 on Rankine. For Hogan and our 2019 pick we land May, KK and Rankine.

I'm not so sure. If you set up properly, that clearance we all love (not) of just throwing it on the boot forward, only to be intercepted by the spare in defense, may just become a weapon. 2 talls about 40m out on 45 degree-ish angles to go pretty much one on one. Moloney would've loved it. Just thinking out loud, but I reckon there'll be quite a few goals scored in quick time with that rule. I can see why broadcasters want it, but I'd say the football community will blow up and it'll only last a year.
