  1. I agree YM
  2. Our defensive structure was good although the quicker Buckley is out of there the better. Our midfield is pedestrian and does not suit the style of footy we appear to be attempting to play. The question is do you coach to what you have or instill where you want to go? I would still do the latter. It should not be a suprise that our forward line was poor. It has been raised all preseason and there is no answer until Jurrah and Watts and whoever else we draft are ready...
  3. Aside from a couple of beautiful kicks I found Rich's game quite underwhelming.
  4. Agree that Bennell was promising on debut. Jetta to me was disappointing, poor disposal, misread the flight of the ball on numerous occasions and could be the slowest indigenous player I have seen
  5. Davey's impact on the game was non existent
  6. 6 Moloney 5 Petterd 4 Warnock 3 Jones 2 Cheney 1 Morton
  7. Thats correct. Aaron convinced him to come to the Scorpions. Saw him in the reserves last week and he was a cut above the rest. good to see he did well in the ones.
  8. Ottens, Locket and Salmon all requested to be traded Hay and Nathan Thompson may have been rated as footballers but not high enough to be seen to be kept over draft picks? It has been made clear since they were traded that may have been factors outside of their football ability that lead to them moving clubs.
  9. Waiting for those names...........
  10. Unless that player had threatened to walk when out of contract then I would agree that your logic is true. Why would you trade someone you rate? Your argument makes no sense? Provide an example of such a trade?
  11. Dont know where YM got that team from. From the Melbourne web site Backs: J.Rivers, M.Warnock, C.Bartram Half backs: C.Garland, J.Frawley, B.Green Centre line: A.Davey, B.McLean, B.Moloney Half forwards: C.Bruce, P.Johnson, C.Morton Forwards: B.Miller, M.Bate, R.Petterd Followers: J.Spencer, J.McDonald, S.Buckley I/C: J.Bennell, K.Cheney, N.Jones, N.Jetta Emg: S.Martin,L.Dunn, J.Meesen
  12. Thompson rated him that much that he traded him.........
  13. Please tell me Cheney's will be presented by Jacko
  14. He has done little in the three games I have seen. Not disputing his leadership or work ethic or saying Sylvia should get a game ahead of him. In fact I endorse Sylvia missing. I just dont rate the football ability of Moloney. He is a plodder, poor defensively and although a long kick rarely targets it to affect.
  15. Source? Bench for mine should be Bennell, Jetta, Jones and Martin. I think it is good that we have not rushed Wonna back and Sylvia and Newton will have to earn there spots. I am amazed that Moloney is in the side as his preseason form has not been anything to write home about.
  16. To add to this, quote from DB on Stef Martin in the Melbourne FC publication: "Stef is very, very quick....... At 200cm he can certainly play on the smaller players around the mid 180cms because he has got great agility.
  17. I am expecting that Garland will play on Thomas. Frawley will not play on Campbell but will play on more a flanker than a KPF ie: Corey Jones. My point is just because they are tall enough to play key position does not mean they lack flexibility and must play on key position forwards.
  18. People need to consider that both Frawley and Garland can play on smalls as well as talls and therefore hold no issue being played with Martin and Warnock and also with Rivers when he is ready. Frawley's preseason form has been fantastic and he will definitely play round 1. This has nothing to do with his draft standing but purely on what he has shown.
  19. FB: Cheney Warnock Martin HB: Green Frawley Garland W:Buckley Mclean Morton HF:Davey Miller Petterd FF: Jetta Bate Sylvia RR: Spencer Bruce McDonald I: Johnson Jones Moloney Bartram Em: Bennell Newton Dunn NB: After watching yesterday I would want to see more from Rivers, Wonna and Maric before they are promoted.
  20. Good read WJ
  21. Already off the mark with this one......................
  22. I had a very clear view of it. Aussie was 20m off the action. Unless he is quicker than I give him credit for and had time to not only conduct the piece of play but slip in and out of the number 51 jumper in that time then it was Liam.
  23. Jordie was particularly impressive with his work at the clearances. Would expect based on today PJ will play round one the rest I would not rush back at this time (Rivers, Wonna, Maric) or need time to develop (Jordie, Jurrah). Not a great day for leading forwards but Zomer did not impress more so for his lack of speed off the mark than what he actually did.
  24. Where's the irony? What has Grimes got to do with Swift? Grimes missed most of his final year of footy with stress fractures of the back. If anything it supports the reasons why we did not pick up Swift. Has anyone considered that because Grimes has had back issues but we are actually being extra cautious with any issues or soreness he may have in that region. That is good long term management.
  25. Yep good call wise dog. Its not as if Petterd is not injury prone at all <_<
