Is the kid just keeping it real, ie keeping a realistic edge on expectations, when he gives his second answer?

All i could think of was, "its a Miss Staker!"

What type of player are you?

A mobile tall forward with the versatility to go back or play on a wing.

Which AFL player do you feel you resemble and why?

Brent Staker. Someone who is versatile but can play up forward or back depending on the teamโ€™s needs and structure.

What are your strengths as a footballer?

I can read the play well and can play a variety of positions. Also marking and kicking at goals.

What parts of your game would you like to improve?

I need to improve my strength so that I can have more influence in a marking contest.

Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?

Western Bulldogs. My dad has barracked for them ever since his older brother played for them. I followed him.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career so far, and why?

My parents and brother have always supported me and come to games. They had the belief that I can do whatever I wanted to do, and football is no exception. They also sent me to boarding school to improve my football.

Yeah jeez.... aiming for the stars there Lucas...

ย

I have to say... he screams Lynden Dunn to me.

i can never seem to get the afl videos to work. Could someone PLEASE upload a video of Lucas Cook to youtube and give me a link. I'm dying to check him out! I\d be very appreciative!

Yeah me neither Freak. And searching on Youtube isn't easy.

Dan, I'm picking up the very faintest hint of a blip of a gut feeling that the Melbourne picks have made you quite unhappy. But only quite.

Damn AFL and Bigpond. Anyone overseas can not see any of these videos. The

is pretty exiciting.

Can someone post or PM the videos to me I would love to see the highlights

ย

It says he supports Western Bulldogs because his dads older brother (uncle) played for them... Is his uncle James Cook? I would say it is, he played for Carlton, the bulldogs and of course Melbourne!! He only played 3 games for us so lets hope Lucas is the star of the family!!

A little bit of maths wouldn't go astray there bud. James Cook is currently 36, so to be his younger brother, Lucas's dad would have to be no older than 35, meaning he conceived Lucas when he was 17 at most. Likely?

I'd be looking at Fred Cook, Graeme Cook or another Graeme Cook.

On a side note, I find it amazing that James Cook was only 26 when he broke down in 2000. I had always assumed he was older.

Nothing wrong with claiming to be the same type of player as Staker. That's not the same thing as "I have the same ability as Brent Staker".

Haha but when a player compares himself to Luke Hodge or Jonathan Brown, suddenly he's arrogant and has a high opinion of himself...

You can read anything into those interviews, if you want it enough.

Is there a reason for the incredibly confusing thread title?

I'm not sure how it possibly makes sense to anyone.

Is it seeming that way?

Well that's unfortunate. I'm excited... mostly because of BPs record so far. If he picks a tall, he likes the tall. I'm pleased with the selections because we FINALLY have some height around the place.

But even when it's a whole bunch of early picks, I'm more reserved. I wait until they've played.

Yes, yes. But you know what I mean. You can compare your style to Staker... or a BETTER player that plays the same type of role. But don't worry, I'm not writing him off because of a puff piece...

On a side note, have you noticed how touchy people have gotten on here lately? It's like the opposite of what happened at 'ology in the last 12 months.

Lucas Cook. Hadn't looked to much into the discussion on him, but my main thought now is...

The shoe fits.

Yeah me neither Freak. And searching on Youtube isn't easy.

I had the same problem till I downloaded Mozilla. Hope it works for u

Thanks for that. Yeah. A Mac thing...

If James Cook is only 36 years old, why hasn't he been playing at the club on a one year contract?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
