AFL website - from bad to absolutely terrible

They've redone the website, but god is it bad. Do these people know anything about web design? It's difficult to navigate through, especially if you're not familiar with the internet and in parts it looks like a home-made website. What the hell?

I would have said from absolutely-terrible to even worse. Painfully slow to load then with so much Flash to cope with won't execute scripts. It should have been re-built from scratch as a source of information rather than something which is committed to squeezing dollars out of people.

If you had told me this time last year that the site would be less user-friendly in 2008 than 2007, i wouldn't have believed you.

On first inspection it looks like a 'work experience kid' designed site, but there is not a chance in hell that a 15 year old kid could design something that poor. It's a shame really that something we love is insulted like this.

It's the AFL's own site... You would think that other leagues and codes would be secondary, but nooo.... The NRL one works better.

Shameful.

in all honesty i didnt realise they still had a website. whe i type www.afl.com.au into my browser i get a page that has listed the 16 clubs and their websites and another link to 'www.afl.com.au' and a link to toyota aurion. i cant find any other info!

I get the same thing. Sometimes it finished on that, sometimes it takes a few seconds to load. Believe me, that first appearence is better then what you're subjected to when it fully loads. How embarrassing.

I'm having the same problems! Can ANYONE tell me how I can get live scores. It was very straight forward last season. Thanks ANYONE.

You may bypass the Flash bottleneck with the following direct link to Game Day Live.

Game Day Live

It's a terrible, terrible site and strangely enough it's built on an open source platform Dot Net Nuke which explains the 15 yo work experience comment earlier in this thread. Just forget about it and go to the herald sun's footy site.

the sites r shite !! diabolically slow .. obviously done by wanky tossers with no idea of the meanings of words like

'access" and "delivery speed"

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
