What are your thoughts on Sinnema having seen him live @KC from Casey ?

Too early to say in terms of today’s game but he played one game for Casey last year and he showed some good skills. He’s playing on a wing and is lightly built but he’s already been involved in a few of their attacking moves.

A free downfield to Jobe Scapin results in Casey’s fourth in a row. He now has three goals and Casey leads 7.4.46 to 4.6.30.

There are no team sheets at the ground either as the team runs out on the field. Judging by the numbers there don’t seem to be many AFL listed players out there.

Box Hill have a few Hawthorn listed players playing today.

Bizarre situation that Hawks can have AFL listed players play in this practice match but we cant?

I’m not sure who’s playing for Box Hill but they certainly have the advantage in height, size and fitness. Their aerial dominance has been crucial today.

A nice snap from Toby SInnema brings Casey back to a 6 point deficit late in the term.

And as the siren sounds, Box Hill are leading 11.10.76 to 10.9.69.

My thoughts are with Jack Dyer and his loved ones today - absolute nightmare of a game to call.

It’s ridiculous. I can’t understand it why the players who didn’t play in our short practice game last week can’t even be allowed to play today. AFL ops decision is bizarre !!

Box Hill kicks a goal seconds before the siren. The Hawks record an 8 point win.

Kudos to Toby SInnema who brought the team back into the game when all seemed lost. He’s lightly built but as he gets stronger and with more experience at this level he will become a very good player.

I understand the rule to be that AFL-listed players can't play the weekend before the official comp starts (whenever that may be for each team). In recent years players could get exemptions eg. Tom Matthews/Campbell would get an exemption as they haven't played in the preseason comp. It looks like they've scrapped that though, which is unfair. Hawks players would have been banned last weekend, I assume.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
