Just to let folk know Rhettrospective have uploaded a mega feature length documentary, VFL on film 1909 - 1945 onto YouTube. Congratulations to all concerned, Rhett Bartlett with Tim Lane narrator. Splendid viewing so far with some terrific footage.

Love the motley collection of “uniforms” from both sides in the opening shots from the 1909 GF.

Roll the credits the Australian Film Archive and many others participated in the doco’s creation. Bruce Andrew some will remember him from ‘World of of Sport’, is a contributor of note. Aside from the footy l loved the use of contemporary events to provide context.

Thanks Tarax Club Looking forward to having a look at 1909-1945, 1945 being my birth year.👍😁

Fascinating watch. Good dose of Fuchsias in there, though not much of the identifying of individuals afforded the other teams featured 😠

But check out Bob Corbett at around 55 minutes - surely a Brayshaw ancestor!

DC a most perceptive observation.

Duke must have left his in the wash.

Nice to see a bit of the ‘39-40 Grannies and see Norm Smith mentioned and Keith “Bluey” Truscott on film, disappointed they didn’t mention the ‘41 flag.👍😁

You could really see the professionalism coming through during the mid to late 30’s.

DZ there is a sequel ‘VFL on Film 1946 to 1982’. You’ll be happy to know there is due deference given, with a chapter titled ‘Demon Dynasty’ (Seven sequential Grand Final appearances). Now where have we heard that previously?

Thanks TC I will definitely watch that one, I think we were all so desperate for the Dynasty that we threw the baby out with the bath water. 😁👍

Tim Lane’s narration tops it off I reckon layzie. Authorative and nuanced might describe his contribution. Always rated him on radio, TV and print.
