Yep. My absolute favourite. Huge Deadhead. And 710 Asbury is the address of the Grateful Dead house in the Haight.

Isnt it Ashbury and not Asbury.

OK, gather round (apologies for using that phrase).

I've remembered I awarded demonstone the 1st trophy with a tweak still to be made, so I'm jointly awarding tweak-needing @Ghostwriter and @3183 Dee the '2009' for 2nd. And in the same vein, I'm awarding @710 Asbury St the '2025' for 3rd.

@beelzebub nearly got there, and did get the Prince, etc, association, so an extra glass of purple fizzy for him. And per my post just before, Parcels go to @beelzebub and @Little Goffy for excellent participation.

@tilly18 gets an extra lolly bag for my mis-Quinn. And @Harvey Wallbanger earnt himself a free pass through to the second round of Musical Chairs for his early 'try'.

And I'm ignoring further messages received from trophy winners while I've been crafting this outcome! I'd hate to have to do a 2007 or 2009 on them!

The Dees players share surnames with Melbourne Storm players in winning grand finals. Four of those were consequently 'premierships' (1999, 2012, 2017, 2020) but two were not (2007, 2009, for the salary cap breaches) Note there were 3 different Smiths and 2 different Andersons in those teams.

The trophies for 1st and 2nd were 'available' cos the Storm couldn't take them. The photo OP for 3rd was with the so-close-you-could-touch-it 2025 outcome.

Thanks for playing everyone 👏👏👏

Woohoo! I no longer feel stupid. League is okay ish but I can't get more than a passing interest in it. (Geez, there's already 18 hours of AFL more or less on the same weekends as NRL is on! 🙄)

I must say I cant read the name Bryan Martin without thinking of the racecaller with the exact same name. Probably most famously he was calling a Cox Plate in which he part-owned an outsider. The horse, Fields Of Omagh , was leading in the straight and Martin called like a consummate professional showing no bias. At the line his horse had held on and won arguably the best race in the country. At that point he shouted out "he's done it!" and we were hearing the reaction of an owner. A few years later the horse won the race again.

Me, too, GoD, the exception being the Storm, particularly when they're doing good stuff (thankfully often), and very particularly when our Dees aren't/haven't.

Nice story, too 😊

That was fun! Looking forward to your next brain-teaser (I know you’ve got another already prepared).

@Demonstone … it’s back to the magoos for you. 😝

Well, yes, it seems I do, I'm afraid. Coming to a board near you, very soon!

It potentially would have been a good question but i doubt I'd find that many namesakes. (I'm sure there's a lot more than we realise but the John Smiths and Tom Browns would probably be only slightly famous and a player such as Ricky Nixon would be dead giveaways.)

We had Bryan Martin. I just heard on the UK's Chase that a Jeremy Howe is a big producer. Of course speaking of Collingwood player it's possible Eddie Everywhere met his fellow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host in the UK and told him how one of his players is also called Chris Tarrant. Mark Lee was both a player for Richmond and the same era played Mel Gibson's best mate in Gallipoli. Mark Maclure is almost another. But while the same spoken it's something like Mark Mcclure for Jimmy Olsen (in Christopher Reeve's Superman)

Any others? It's amusing how Cameron Smith is a famous Storm player, but now the world instead would think of Aussie golfer Cameron Smith. (And two Steve Smiths have played cricket for Australia.) But who have I forgotten fron our great game?

Bryan Martin = Race Caller? He's a friend oƒ my family and an ardent supporter of the Pies. Anyway, this is all too cryptic for me.

Bit of mutual exclusivity there, surely, I'va? 😄

Thanks for checking in.

Have you seen the Contention quiz? Much easier, according to @Demonstone (though not according to anyone else yet!)

I just found the 2003 Cox Plate. Bryan Martin actually firstly says "You've done it!" on the line. What's much more interesting is the exact namesake who rode the horse! Maybe it's an omen that in just his second ride the horse went from good to one of the best. Then again the jockey's nowhere as tall as a certain (former) ruckman who we're all really excited about for next year! 😉😉😉

Wow. Awful spelling error on my part—writing too quickly as always. And I’m usually the one correcting everyone else’s spelling. Thank you…

Mitch Marsh the cricketer looks like he'll be joined by Mitch Marsh, the AFL footballer, after next month's AFL draft.

It was also amusing that weeks after moving Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis on the Hawks recruited Mitchell Lewis.
