Footy season is over, the trade period is done and dusted and the drafts are still a few weeks away.

Could there be a more boring time for a Demons fan? You betcha! Keep reading!

Below is a team of players who all have something in common.

Your task is to identify what that certain something is.

Virtual prizes shall be awarded for the first three correct answers.

Pretty please ... answers in a PM only. Blurting is hurting.

====================================================================

B: Phil Gilbert Darcy Moore Jason McCartney

H/B: Ted Richards Daniel Turner Andrew Rogers

C: Max Holmes Dustin Martin Bailey Smith

H/F: Scott Thompson Paul Abbott Luke Parker

F: Nick Watson Barry Hall Oscar Allen

R: Jeff White Jordan Lewis Sam Mitchell

I/C: Scott Burns Chris Sullivan Bailey Laurie John Barker

our W team says Hi and see you at the finals! 😜

The only response to date suggested they were all involved in knee incidents but, alas, that is not the answer.

edit: A second player thought they might all share a surname with a well known musician but, although many do, again not the answer.

Hint: there is no connection to sport of any description.

So, the answer to the original question is ‘yes’ then.

A second clue: The common factor is not related to any profession, so you can rule out musicians, comedians, actors etc.

I'm going to push my luck and choose Taylor & Taylor.

Duran Duran fan, @Little Goffy ?

No more suggestions have been received.

To make things easier (or not), Tom Scully would qualify for this team but Jack Trengove would not.

Likewise, Barnaby French would qualify but Des English would not.

Their first car was a Ford Fairlane? (Or are they all about to be the second player to come out?)

You find the W comp boring? Understood. But apart from a couple of laugh reaction emojis, why would you express this view on this forum? Genuine question.

I wondered if anybody might be tricked by the spectrum of colours in the team list.

That in fact was a rainbow herring, which is a cross between a rainbow trout and a red herring and nothing more than a naughty misdirection.

Any further suggestions (serious or not) in a PM please!

A pair of ruckmen from the 70s/80s era in Rod Blake and Mark Lee would both be eligible for this team.

One more player I probably should mention before logging off for the night.

Former Kangaroo and Hawk big man David Hale almost made the team, but in the end he was just a little off the pace.

That was my first thought, then I thought about it more. There could be a more boring time. There could be no women's comp happening.

Yep! It would be tedious to read but i could write a long list of songs or artists I don't like. The silly thing is very few are at all relevant now. But at the same there's no point telling fans that their musical heroes are "awful" or wish their stuff never existed. Honestly it really doesnt matter if some people think AFLW is boring. Just dont watch it! If anything it helps create interest in Aussie Rules and for all we know it helps get a girl's younger brother into the sport and later the Hall Of Fame. It's incredible some [censored] like Sam Newman would choose sexism over helping his sport.

Good morning to all the frustrated posters out there who will be miffed to know that another genius has found the answer.

Congratulations to @710 Asbury St who has snagged second prize and with it the chance to recruit any player from any club to join MFC. Choose wisely!

The teaser remains open with the revealing reveal to be revealed long after reveille but not by Bruce Reville. Wot? Oh, at a later stage.

Third prize has been claimed by the consistent @tilly18 who, for his efforts, get to pick any former MFC star to return in their peak form.

Just pipped at the post was @Ghostwriter , who also deserves a prize and will pick any former MFC player currently at another club to come home.

Can we have an easier question like 'How many goals will Langford kick in the last quarter of the 2026GF"?

I'll wrap this up soonish, but I'm wondering why the prizewinners haven't nominated the players they are entitled to choose.

@710 Asbury St ? @tilly18 ? @Ghostwriter ?

As a final clue (or another layer of frustration), Batman would qualify for this team but neither Superman nor Spiderman would be eligible.

I can’t say Clarrie without crying 😭

But yeah, Clarrie

Time to tell all, then.

Each player in this team shares a surname with a member of a well-known duo, as highlighted below:

Gilbert & Sullivan, Pete Cook & Dudley Moore, Lennon & McCartney, Jagger & Richards, Ike & Tina Turner, Rogers & Hammerstein, Sherlock Holmes & Watson, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, (Alias or Alas) Smith & Jones, Richard & Linda Thompson, Abbott & Costello, Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow, Hall & Oates, George Burns & Gracie Allen, Jack & Meg White, Mitchell & Webb, Fry & Laurie and Ronnie Barker & Ronnie Corbett (The Two Ronnies).

All the clues should now make sense. French & Saunders, Scully & Mulder, Hamish Blake & Andy Lee, Hale & Pace (BIG clue there!) and Batman & Robin.

Thanks for playing.
