I am coming down to Melbourne and this will be my first ever AFLW game. Would love to meet up with any Demonlanders who will be at the match.

Go Dees

A slow start cost us against Freo. We need Hore to get back to her best been a bit quiet the last 2 weeks.

Yep Molloy out. Which is a shame because I'd like to see her play live, but then again, I'm not complaining 😉 Depending how all the tests went today, we might need all the help we can get! In the unlikely event that all those players under a cloud aren't available, we're actually down to 21 fit. But surely a few should be good to go.

Yay! Heater, S. Taylor and Lampy all back, and Tay, Goldy and Ryleigh fine after their scares! 😁

Best news ever, especially right now. A much-needed shot in the arm. Bring on Saturday!

Your first W match! How exciting!!! You’ll love it, guaranteed. Watching our team live is so good.

Try to get there a little early to avail yourself of the freebies and partner giveaways and face-painting, etc.

There’s this crazy passionate cheer squad member who’d love to meet you.

She’ll be either on BBQ duties (till b!ttchh extraordinaire) or on a flogger.

Right now she’s having a hard time coming to terms with all the changes at our club so another friendly face will be most welcome.

We're finally completing the set of 17 opponents, nearly four seasons after the last expansion!

🏳️‍🌈 And happy home Pride game! 🏳️‍🌈

Avg. games experience of teams as selected:

Melbourne: 47.0

Sydney: 32.7

As selected, Sydney has a median age of 22 compared to Melbourne's 24. I know I'll have eyes on teen sensation Zippy Fish!

2025 form against same oppo:

Melbourne: R3 Coll (+4), R4 Rich (+37), R7 GC (+87), R9 Freo (-5)

Sydney: R1 Rich (+20), R2 GC (+82), R4 Freo (+25), R5 Coll (-26)

2025 form against current top 6:

Melbourne: N/A (!)

Sydney: Nth (-68), Adel (-2), Carl (+39)

2025 top goal scorers:

Melbourne: Hore (15), Zanker (12), Harris (11), Bannan (7), Gall (6)

Sydney: Molloy (19), Cooper (7), C.Hamilton (7), Ham (7), Kennedy (4)

Barring any late outs, the 5 players not selected are the most we've had available outside the selected 21 all season. From Round 1 onwards: 3, 4, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 3, 5

With Molloy out and Heath, Lampard and S.Taylor in the side which makes as look a lot stronger I think we should win this game I wasn't sure about the Freo game I thought it would be like the Port game and I was right, I'd be surprised if we lost this game.

We are almost full strength with Mackin and Gall only a week away, unfortunately Purcell is out for the year, huge loss.

The team

B: O'Hehir, Gillard

HB: Goldrick, S.Taylor, Chaplin

C: McNamara, Hanks, Paxman

HF: Fitzsimon, Harris, Wotherspoon

F: Bannan, Zanker

FOLL: Pearce, Hore, Heath

IC: Lampard, Johnson, Campbell, Rigoni, Ebert

I will definitely get there early although I think my face painting days are behind me 🤣. Put an extra sausage on the BBQ, I’ll be the slightly lost looking, old bloke.

No excuses tomorrow, that’s a strong side we have named. Go Dees!

Oof. We could be in for a rude shock soon.

Not enough info for her, FND. We are a surprisingly big tribe.

I like to think, as a top-6 team, that we'll at least inflict their 'average loss' on them, i.e. about 68 plus 2 minus 39 divided by 3 - 'a coupla goals'.

Though I would like to be a little less stressed than waiting for that result would make me!

Yes, I added this for managing expectations (mainly my own!).

On my "more realistic ladder", we're about 6th and hoping to lock in finals and build form for the pointy end. It could all fall apart or we could be in for an exciting run!

A slightly lost looking old bloke huh? It might be easier for you to find me 😆 Just ask literally anyone in the cheer squad to point out the crazy chook lady 😅

Oh and one is never too old for face paint!

Seeya tomorrow!

PS: I’ll be the one in red and blue 😝

(Cheer squad joke - never not funny)

In 'adults' (read, anyone over 14 these days, it seems, though they may all actually be 20-somethings and it's just me...) it's called tattooing...

Regarding that, are we going backwards atm, teams having worked us out? - a team wanting flowing chains, that can be clogged with the right type and amount of pressure? The last 3 rounds, including the Ws, we've looked vulnerable in that type of game.

Port have done us a favour beating the Hawks

Got to win this game tomorrow

if we do, we're in with a great chance of second particularly as hawks still have North to come

The issue is now becoming avoiding an interstate week-1 final in Brisbane or Adelaide. A win tomorrow will go a ways to fending that off.

🥳 GAMEDAY 🥳

We really need to win today, getting back in the top two is crucial. Hawthorn’s loss last night and our healthy percentage says we can!!!

WE CAN DO THIS!

LFG!

  • PREGAME: Sydney

The Demons are back on the road again for the third time this season when they take on the red hot ladder leaders the Sydney Swans at the SCG. Can the Demons take another big scalp? Who comes in and who goes out?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
