We are bottom 4 side with them so why would you want to keep them?

They’re a known quantity where you know what you can get.

We have no clue about 7,8. They might be injury prone, scared players, no fight in them etc.

play hard ball for Humphrey or tell them no bueno.

Seriously ? LOL

The only heads turning with that deal should be the GCS recruiting team watching Tim Lamb walking out of the room giving them the bird

I hope this club has found a spine - if they accept that it would be a laughingstock within the AFL competition - just another to add to all of our other cringeworthy records

Because we are a club with no leverage and need to accept we are in rebuild mode. Besides I dont recall a trade Lamb has completed where we showed any sort of "spine"; we should not be surprised if this is the deal.

You may want too look away when the Oliver deal comes through.

Edited by Jibroni

Id be so peeved is we end up doing that deal. It’ll be Judd and Trac for essentially p10 & 11 in a weak draft, we as a club intentionally traded out of.

Yes… it’s pick 7 & 8 on paper but we are giving the suns the points to get a head of us on draft night.

It would be a seriously bad deal.

why is everyone losing their [censored] over picks 7&8? historically, this is a "good deal" considering some of these trades that went down...

Essendon trades pick nine, 2019 1st round pick to GWS for Dylan Shiel and 2019 2nd round pick.
GWS trades Jeremy Cameron and two 2021 2nd round picks to Geelong for pick 13, pick 15, pick 20 and a 2021 4th round pick.
Fremantle trades Lachie Neale and pick 30 to Brisbane for pick six, pick 19 and pick 55.
Adelaide trades Patrick Dangerfield and pick 50 to Geelong for pick nine, pick 28 and Dean Gore.
West Coast trades Chris Judd and pick 46 to Carlton for Josh Kennedy, pick three and pick 20.

I wonder if Humphrey has stumbled along Demonland yet?

Just about to turn this ‘adult’ football fantasy to page 100 can’t say it’s been an engrossing read. Publishers sent a reject slip as the protagonists were sighted in espionage dress ups on the tan.

Proposals for the fictional draft’s title included “The Player who came in for the gold” , “Tinkered, Trailered, Soldier on, Spy”, (the mole is revealed). Other suggestions included “AFLcrap file”, “Billion-Dollar Baby” and “Here’s Humphrey”.

Anthropologists researching this on-line phenomenon report it is akin to a post-WW2 South Sea cargo cult. Where worshippers gathered for months, weeks, days at an end expecting manna from heaven. Having been denied on field success (with the odd interlude of a premiership thrown in).

The gathering featured furious efforts to build a mobile phone tower and an internet platform to receive divine deliverance from a god-like entity known as AFL (Press here for AFL chant*).Alternatively (Press here for USA🇺🇸 chant) Oops wrong channel! Colliwobbles only.

The gathered throng were entertained by the bravado of the boldest of the prophetic predictors. Who launched themselves off the platform into WWW space attached only by slenderest liana vines of ‘reality’. Laws of Gravity do apply.

Love or hate the guy Tom Morris gets very good mail. I think people on here need to come to terms with just getting picks for Trac and abandon this pipedream thinking of landing Bailey Humphrey. He is simply not coming.

Prepare for a big old fashioned bowl of disappointment if you are going to cling to wild stories from random posters with no track record about secret meetings.

Absolutely no journalists are running with any stories about Bailey Humphrey requesting or seriously wanting to get out of Gold Coast.

Agree, and I’m still all in believing humphrys coming but of all people I’d trust jt to make the best of a bad situation. That man is an absolute wizard.

Honestly, once Gold Coast doubled down late last week I just couldn't see any way for them to backflip without doing massive damage to their reputation going forward. No one would ever believe them going forward if they said a player wouldn't be traded. Players who are looking to get out in future would be even more emboldened to do so. It might come back to bite them with Humphrey in a couple of years when they get a token pick for him but it's an 'execute one to teach a thousand' approach.

From Gold Coast's perspective they are just taking a stand and setting a precedent for their young interstate players that they will not be allowed to break contracts. Let Bailey go and they could open the floodgates.

As I've said last week my guess is that to force the issue is Lamb comes out today and says we love Trac, he is a superstar and we are more than happy for him to stay. This opens the door for the Humphrey strong trade request wither publicly or to GC privately.

What's the in the background:

  1. Trac wants to leave

  2. We want him gone

  3. We are really [censored] at him for telling GC we will fold in trade for BH

  4. GC have a lot of marketing/sponsorship already committed around Trac

  5. BH wants to come to Melb

Are you basing Bailey wanting out of the GC based on a cryptic song choice on social media by a guy who might just be enjoying his time off at home in the country visiting family and mates?

If he was so desperate to come home then he would request a trade home. This simply has not happened and is not being spouted by a media that would love to run with such a wild story.

Don't see it happening. Humphrey will only request a trade if one is likely to get done.

He is not saying that the club goes public, only that Humphrey’s camp to go public with the desire.

It would only help to move the needle. If GC are dug in but they get pressure from the outside about a player who wishes to go home it may move the club.

Mmmm, maybe all those GC supporters will start to exert pressure on Cameron....?

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
