Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Last night on the Footy Show, Hutchy had a brief interview with Neil Daniher in the car park after training. This thread has nothing to do about whether Neil should or should not be coach but about Daniher the person. I was so proud of the way he talked so highly about our football club. He mentioned how great a club it was and of the priviledge of being there for ten years. He then went on to say how he hopes the supporters get behind the players and Mark Riley for the remainder of the season.

Well Neil as a Melbourne supporter I am proud of the way you've handled yourself and of the way you have shown such passion and promoted our great club in your time at the helm.

On a side note, when Gary Lyon was quizzed about putting his hat in the ring for the coaching job, he flatly declared he would not be putting in for the job. He then also went on to say how great a club Melbourne Football Club is and coaches should be lining up for this job as it is a plum job with the list Melbourne have and the great club they would be coming to. He spoke with the most passion I've seen Gary speak about Melbourne. It may have been a bit of an act I don't know but it was still good to see him sticking up for and promoting our great club.

Neale is a great man - his time was up at the club and he knew it to. I saw the quick interview last night with him, it was great. I think, as you said everyone who follows the Melbourne footy club should be proud about the way Neale has went about this week. Every single time he was interviewed he always said he supports and backs the club in anything they do. Thanks Neale for 10 years of fun ... mostly.

I saw this and I too was impressed how well he spoke of the club. He really sounds like an honest guy and a true gentleman.

Thanks for everything Neale and best of luck in the future.

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of Hutchinsons interviews are paparazzi-esque... Cornering football celebrities in carpark, following them as they walk away...

Not a fan.. personally I think he is a smug little so and so who lacks moral fibre.

I have to agree....however that behavior is common place in contempory sports journalism let alone football. I defy anyone to go to USA during NFL/NBA playoffs or England during FA cup and not notice the 'paparazzi' nature of sports reporting.

Great post Stinger2, well said.

thanks for the memories neale, you bled for this football club, and gave your heart and soul for the betterment of the club. your extreme joy after whitey's goal against the dogs in 05 will stay with me for a long time. that showed what success at this club meant to you.

and i hope like hell that the boys win for you today, because it is exactly what you deserved

I have a really sad feeling in the pit of my stomach about him leaving.

I like the Rev alot, and his words about the club last night shows his love for MFC.

Also when I saw how gutted Neita was the other night it brought tears to the eyes.

The thing that stood out to me in neal's interview was he continually referred to the club as "our club" and "our club" has to do so and so, "we" have to do whatever in the future. He easily could have distanced himself from it and said "they, the boys, the board" have to do this that and the other, but he referred to it as a collective unit, with himself a part of it too and I liked that.

I really think he is one of the better people of football.

Time to fire tonight Demons. Im already feeling a bit queezy.

Expect nothing less from the man, a true gentlemen.

For the quality of the man, just look at the difference between Wallace leaving the dogs and the way Neil has conducted himself over the past 72 hours. Quality.

I'm actually feeling quite emotional about this evenings game, almost topped in 1K for flights just for the night but overruled by Mrs Machine.

Thanks for the memories Neil, just wish you could have landed that premiership.

I noticed that too 'Deelusioned' regarding the references to 'our club'. Pure class. Lets hope the boys send The Rev out with a win.

From a media perspective we're on a hiding to nothing tonight. If we lose we'll be accused of being passionless and disrespectful to Daniher, but if we win we'll be called mentally fragile and only turn it on when we feel like it etc.

Daniher was a terrific coach who was proud of his club and players and his passion, commitment and constant promotion will be sorely missed. The way he has conducted himself over the past week and continued to rally behind the team despite deciding it was time to leave has been inspirational. His comments on the footy show last night reiterated just what sort of man Neale is. Despite he's obvious disappointment, the first thing on his mind was the players and the club and getting the supporters behind them and the new coach. Truely an unselfish person who did his best for the club. It is disappointing that so many players let him down. On behalf of all Melbourne supporters, I would like to wish Neale all the luck with his future endeavours and thank him for all the things he has done for our great club.

Today is a sad sad day, not only for me, but for the club. Farewell Neale, and thankyou.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
