Perhaps Danihers decision to walk before the end of the season sums up the culture of softness allegedly held by the players as called by the experts. Perhaps this has been the hidden factor in our inconsistency. The coaches propensisty to take the easy way out !!

I agree, watching videos of Daniher as a player you could never call him soft. I think in the end Neale's greatest weakness was simply having too much faith in some players who continued to let him down. I know some are saying he was pushed but Neale's resignation i think speaks volumes for the man. He could see the writing on the wall and because of this I think he deccided to leave now instead of waiting till later on the season to leave the club, giving us ample time to find the best replacement. His decision was in the best interests of the club. All the best Neale and thank you for your great service to the club.

What a completely unhelpful comment.

I guess Gary Lyon is a shirker too, I mean, he quit long before he was actually dead.

And the best thing for a about-to-be sacked coach to do is fight tooth and nail against the board, turn the players against the club in a desperate attempt to make yourself indispensible.

Take a moment to think about how hard it is to admit that you're beaten, that it's over after ten years. Daniher did the best thing for the club when he had been placed in an untenable position by a board which, while doing the necessary, managed to blunder multiple times in how they went about it.

What is your problem? What slum did you grow up in that taught you to put the boot in when someone is down, just for the hell of it?

Times have changed since Balme was coach, as has the thought process of coaches leaving or finishing up mid season.

Danny Frawley says in hindsight that he should have left immediately when he was finishing at Richmond.

Finishing up early is the right decision for all parties. What is Daniher sticking around for another 9 weeks going to prove? Nothing!

Balme sounds like he has some bitterness there. Interesting as well bc most in the footy world have thrown their weight behind neal's decision, saying it was the admiral thing to do.

Maybe Balme could learn a thing or two from him about putting the club before the individual.

I can see where Balme is coming from, but on the other hand Frawley has said he wished he didn't continue as Coach of Richmond after it was announced that he was gone.

Coach? Is that what he was supposed to be? The guy was a hack. He's bitter and twisted at being sacked mid-season. If he'd done the right thing, like ND, and left after the terrible season he had previous then he wouldn't have been sacked. Sour grapes.

Just ask Kevin Bartlett, Tim Watson, etc, about any coach who's resigned or been sacked.

"Isn't it awful!"

"Poorly handled by the club!"

"A disgrace!"

If they had their way, no coach would ever be replaced and we'd still be coached by Bob Skilton. Up against Des Tuddenham this Friday night.

There is a common understanding that Melbourne are a soft touch and Franga's comments are purely speculative anyway. Three posts in nine months - I'd be hesitant to post also with the vitriole in the responses to your comments. Four weeks ago, Danners was a Dead Man Walking - now he's a Saint and we're all lauding his work over the last 10 years.
