What they're saying down at Punt Road

They made the Prelim in 95. I was there that day at Waverly. Miserable day. Geelong pumped them. But Richmond supporters were singing the song in the final minutes because they'd had such a great year. It gave me goosebumps. Funnily enough one of the most vivid football memories I have. Tigers supporters outnumbered Cats about 10 to 1 that day.

A Richmond fan told me this once and I always assumed he was putting mayonnaise on it. Good to hear there was actually something to that story!

i remember matthew knights had an incredible final to get them over the line one year

Yeah 95 semi I was there, my cousin is a tigers supporters so went to quite a few of their games when I was a kid

Listening to SEN after the game was night was pretty hilarious.

One caller went on to say that Nakervis is the best ruckman of the past ten years due to his three premierships and Gawn would always know that despite what people say.

Yeah he was easily the worst of all I heard. Especially when he went on to state we need to go to the draft because we have no kids coming through. Old mate clearly hasn’t paid attention to what we’ve been doing since 2022, at least with reference to the trying to regenerate on the run.

I did like the Richmond fan who reckoned if Gawn had left the ground early and was on a train travelling at 100kmh the Tigers would have still hit him lace out.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
