I'm a bit late to the votes party but this seemed to be the place to gloat about Xavier Lindsay being only marginally less impactful than Dan Houston, for a saving of about $500k and probably an additional draft pick.

He was so good, wasn't he?

I still think Ricky Petterd's is the best debut game I've seen from a Melbourne player, but Lindsay's was very close.

XL was surprisingly good, 22 touches, 3 marks and 6 tackles on debut was sublime.👍😁

6 Gawn

5 Petracca

4 McDonald

3 Lindsay

2 Bowey

1 Lever

Gawn was good but I'm surprised with the the amount of praise he's getting, he missed a couple of sitters and his direct opponent kicked the goal that won GWS the game.

Young Clayton Oliver’s debut was the one that sticks in my memory.

Agree, he had quite a few clangers and made some ordinary decisions, but I still thought he was the most influential on the day.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
