Jefferson will play (at times). At full forward.

Goodwin will coach from both box and boundary line.

Many things will be different, play-wise (though subtly so?)

Aaaand...

Some more fodder for the 'Nicknames' file!

It's been a great preseason on Demonland. So many great training reports and information to keep me engaged. This video makes me realise how much I just want the games to start. I'm getting sick of reading and hearing about what we are going to do. I just want to see it now.

A lot of standard Goodwin media responses in there. I really enjoyed the questions from Fritsch and Salem. Goodwins personality actually shone through.

Good to see Goody trying to engage with fans but pretty underwhelming to be honest. A few [censored] bits about the team were interesting but nothing really new. Would have liked something a bit longer around team structure, player development over the summer and possible positional changes etc (without giving away any secrets of course) and minus the fluff. Not interested in who is the best table tennis player or nicknames. Looking forward to seeing him open up honestly about team performance and progress during year on AFL 360 during his fortnightly segments and hoping the real Simon shines through.

He's always come off as extremely awkward in front of the camera.

Actually thought he seemed quite relaxed and answered the questions well. Just the overall content I found a bit lacking but hey, it’s a start. Glad he made the effort and look forward to hearing more from him on 360 during the year.

Is there a secret that I'm not aware of?

Is Petty still on our list?

Why are there no details on his whereabouts?

Did not play for Casey, did not play against Freo and not on the injured list.

What is going on?

XxxxxxxxEdit

Just explained as "personal reasons"

Ok

As the cheap “journalist” would say - very obvious he he’d out for Port Adelaide.

I did enjoy the beaming look on his face as he began talking about Clayton Oliver.

I think a good idea for in-house videos like this would be to make it rapid-fire - 'ten words or fewer challenge'. It would structurally guide Goodwin or any other coach or player answering the questions to abandon their media training and just fire off their thoughts. In a safe and selectively editable context like a club video they can let loose a bit.

@ManDee, check out the Club website Thursday practice gallery.

One H.Petty looking very happily involved.

Damn! I was hoping his answers would save me a trip to a urologist! :(

I was going to ask if you were taking the... but then, clearly you would be avoiding such things at present.

Seriously though coaches just have to do this PR stuff. At times they're not in the mood or its time they'd rather spend elsewhere and they soooo don't wanna say the wrong thing. But the AFL and the fans want the 'fluff'. Thankfully sometimes they do say something interesting.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
