They called us a powerhouse! Woo hoo! We're in!

I thought "The departures of chief executive Gary Pert and president Kate Roffey also didn’t help stabilising efforts." was a strange thing to say. At best you could describe it as an end to destabilisation - beating the termites by replacing the wood with concrete. Less generously you could say "efforts to destabilise the club reached fruition with the departure of Kate Roffey and Gary Pert, and have now concluded".

I wonder what they mean by 'dual-threat' about Nibbler? Maybe they are trying to invent a new way to say two-way runner?

I also wonder who this Jake Bowers character is?

Has anyone else noticed that 'Viney & Co" is now a rock-solid idiom in the AFL media? As in, media will get comments from Gawn, from May, from Goodwin, from Petracca, and from Viney & Co. Who is this mysterious "& Co"? Seems like a clear nickname waiting for the right person to attach to.

seems mean and vindictive; too close to 'unco' for my liking

Or the Kmart/Target small appliances and kitchenware brand, Anko.

I mentioned it a couple of months ago that our squad build in the last 24 months has placed us in a position where i personally think our squad is stronger than it has been for the last 3 years.

*Shake up of our game plan 🤞 according to interviews by Goody (I have nothing to go by yet we'll found out more tomorrow and in the next month or so.)

*Forward stock options- JVR has help finally around him.

*Midfield rotation options/Running power through defence through to midfield

*Quality cover in Ruck now Gawn/Campbell and Verrall

*Defensive stability only worry is a lack of small defenders with Mcvee going down.

Having not seen the kid play in the flesh only highlights to go by but it I feel we only got stronger with the inclusion of Hendo onto our list.

💪

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
