A genuine question, just curious:

You apparently read, reply and react to other people's posts as evidenced by your above post which is only intelligible as a response to someone else's post.

While I can understand you or anyone not wishing to get involved in a stream of argumentative counter posts, why do you feel it necessary to add that? You can simply not respond to responses if you wish.

Not that I expect a response....

I won't say anything is case I say something . . . other than Kim and Kanye are poor role models.

Not sure if anyone else watched Kalani yesterday. but your basketball point is very valid. given as he didnt see a minute of rucking he just doesnt attack the footy, just stands with his arms up being tall, wouldn;'t be surprised if he falls to a rookie pick. definitely not the great white hope he has been pegged as for the lasdt few years

Was there a televised match of the school/under 18 teams?

or AJ

I think Campbells lack of mobility is probably keeping him out of the side along with the fact he's really just a true ruckman, less so a forward. With Max fit we really just need someone to pinch hit in the ruck who can provide a contest and PRESSURE up forward so I think it will continue to be JVR or AJ picked over the next few weeks.

Maybe if the oppo plays two genuine rucks might we look at TC.

I think it was important to play Fullo at the time as we needed height fwd, a ruck chop out for max and he was in form at VFL level. so selection integrity stands up. also lets not forget we are 2 from 2 since he played, largely I feel as a better structured team, not directly related to playing Fullo. That said, those last 12 minutes were telling and showed while we need height, form fwd and a ruck chop out for max, Fullo is probably out of his depth.

I really dont want to see JVR come back and used as fwd/ruck. Thats partly how we destroyed Weideman's career. Let him stay fwd. Campbell is only just back and is only a ruck. Therefore on the height, fwd and big body scenario, you cant go past AJ. As a result i think AJ comes in for Tom.

Agree that Fullo deserved a chance but hasn't shown anything so back to Casey.

You have got to be kidding to suggest we ruined Weid's career by rucking him.

Weid just couldn't cut it as a key forward at 2 different clubs. Lacked desperation & couldn't hold his marks.

Ironically some of his best footy was at Casey as an undersized ruckman in their flag year.

I am glad those of you who were on the "why arent we playing Fullarton?!" bandwagon for most of last year can now see that just because someone's name isn't Petty, it doesn't automatically mean they are better.

Maybe you'll even acknowledge that the coaches actually know what they have to work with, VFL stat sheets mean squat and there isn't a wild Goodwin conspiracy behind every non selection? 🤔

Fullarton fully deserved his opportunity & may do so again if he keeps putting his hand up.

Actually good form at VFL level is still pretty relevant & Goodwin has a history of ignoring good VFL form & rushing back players who are either not fit or not in any form. It was definitely part of the reason he wrecked our chances in 2022.

This is the big thing for me, for WAY too long Casey form has been ignored while "best 23" players get away with weeks of mediocre performances. This has been the case since 2022. It's time that the competition for spots results in players getting goes when their Casey form demands it. Fulla's deserved his shot, if he gets back to some good form and the players in the seniors don't perform he should get another go.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
