do we put Godfrey on Lockyer

At the moment Tarkyn is Collingwoods best fielder and in all australian form. So far godders has done the job especially on saturday when he kept thommo to just 12 touches when he averages 25 a game. So I say throw him on Tarks and shut him down. Also forgive me if I'm wrong but last year did Benny do a magnificent job on Rocca?

I would play Godfrey on the Pies D.Swan who has been racking up the the posi's in recent weeks. Including a BOG performance on the weekend with 36 touches.

Would Nathan Brown be asked to play another defensive forward role that he played I thought rather well this week on either Swan or Heath Shaw? Just a thought. I haven't seen much of the Pies this year but would assume these two setup most of their creative thrusts from the half backline as loose, attacking defenders.

On game impact you'd say Lockyer has been there best midfielder this year, and thus I'd say Godfrey would get first crack at him.

Daniel Bell would be the logical matchup on Didak, given his cracking game on Welsh this week....

Maybe even Scott Burns. Would like to see him destroy Dale Thomas though just because I can't stand him.

I like the fact that we now have an irritating tagger, even if he can't kick.

Godfrey on Swan

Brown on H.Shaw

McDonald on Burns

Ward on Davis I don't think Whelan has played enough football to be selected.

Bell on Didak.

swan or pendlebury are their attacking players, godders on swan should be the go, he gets alot of clearances

shaw is in doubt after a 1st qtr corky against freo, but brown or sylvia would be a good choice to play on him on monday

man on man all day. every pocession earnt. hit them hard. every oppurtunity we should smash them fairly. seems only Wheels, Byron and Neita know how to do that. when theres a ball to be won still too many outside players. when we tackle keep the ball locked in.when we have ball 50 out from goal NEVER RETREAT

I'm just glad godfrey is back to a tagging role, rather than a free wheeling midfield role, where he was utterly useless. as a tagger he is one of our best, but as an offensive winger etc as he has been used in the last few years there are far better options.

For me i'd put him on burns or lockyer

to be honest, if anyone understoof doggy brown's role on saturday- he carved up mcleod, thats probably exagerating a little, but he kept mcleod to almost 0 influence. Brown went forward and presented and created space for our other forwards and did some good things too. Don't think he will be dropped just for Holland to come in-

Bizz is in great form and will not be dropped- play on Rocca

Carroll on Cloke or Rocca if Bizz is better suited to Cloke

Godfrey on Swan

James McDonald on Lockyer

Bell to didak if he's playing..or on Neon Leon..which means he could play on him in the midfield..which i'd love to see

holland on holland

nathan brown on nathan brown

Simon Buckley on Nathan Buckley

Paul Johnson on Ben Johnsson

Davey on Davis or Davies?

I liked that... so I went and had a look at the site to see if I could find any others... And I came up empty...

The closest ones were Sylvia and Carroll on Cox, Dick and Goldsack... Maybe Rivers to nullify Burns....

Oh well... there's always next week....

it's my day off.... Why not?

Johnson to pick up Johnson 2 weeks in a row...

Nathan Brown to pick up Nathan Brown 2 weeks in a row...

Matt White on Jeff White

Danny Hughes on Cleve Hughes

Mabe Rains on Rivers?

White - King?

Pickett - Hyde?

Newman - Bell? (a bit cryptic)

Dunn - Moore?

Knobel - Neitz?

Gee I'm pushing it now....

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
