Having tossed up a few options I've settled in on Bo Allan as our preferred option at pick 9.

Everything of him screams of Angus Brayshaw in terms of versatility and competitiveness, something the club saw as a great need hence why we targetedDan Houston.

He'll start his career off a half back and I have no doubt he can slot in at that role come round 1. This also means Rivers now transition to being a full time mid.

I know some have concerns over his disposal but I don't think it's that bad as some are making it out to be. It's his competitive drive, power and speed off the mark, and ability to read the play is why I think he's got enormous potential.

Not sure Allan will still be there at 9

How are we after a combination of 2 of Langford, Allan, Tauru if none of the above are suspected to be available at pick 9 🧐

I don’t think Allan gets past Saints.

I think the following combos could happen:

 Crows take Draper

- Langford at 5

- Tauru at 9.

Crows take Langford:

- Allan at 5

- Tauru at 9

I think there will still be moving parts though, I did read today Saints might trade 1 of their picks

Interesting, suggests we don't rate Draper

Tough to see Tauru getting past the paints given they have multiple picks and have recently lost Battle

Curious if that’s the case - I have him ranked third after Smith and Langford (excluding Ashcroft)

I think those four have been the most consistent and are the most bankable at AFL level - would be disappointing not to grab any of them

Why do you think we wouldn’t pick Draper?

Just have a feeling we are looking for big mids.

And you think Allan is worth 5?

Just to back this up on why I think he's got huge potential to dominate in the midfield in years to come.

This is from an under 18 Colts game this year where he played mainly as an inside midfielder. Not only does he do the inside grunt work, but his ability to spread on the outside and explode from contest is why he's a tantalising propsect.

I think his draft range is 7-12, so not far behind off.

Taylor has a great eye, so if he thinks so then so be it

An Adelaide poster on another site who says he has a contact at Melbourne says we won't take Draper due to concerns over his kicking.

He also says that Melbourne believe Adelaide want North's pick 2 for O'Sullivan and not the reported interest in Jagga Smith.

Thanks Gator, that other site does have its uses sometimes

They also confirm Melbourne's interest in Allan and that we've seen him in WA more than once.

Thanks for that Gator - interesting though that we’d take Allan who arguably has more knocks on his kicking than Draper

Concerns over kicking is probably the biggest knock on Allan, though. I’m big on the kid and he’s by far my preference at pick 9, but seems redundant to overlook Draper, whose agility and evasiveness is immense, because of concerns re his kicking, but reach on someone who also has kicking issues, but doesn’t probably have the same ceiling that Draper has.

Just can’t see us taking Langford AND Allan. 2 190cm+ left footed big bodied mids? Dont think so in my opinion.

Both have secondary positions it'll be cushty

Langford and Lindsay is a great combination I reckon. Still think there’s a chance we slide back with 9 though and get an extra pick in the 20’s.

It's ''Allan''.

One's a mid forward and the other is a defensive mid.  Allan would start at half back before graduating through the midfield.

I love the combination.

I love Smith, but would he very happy with two monster mids to go with Clarry, Viney and Trac.

I'm sure they'd take Draper at pick 9, but he won't be there.

Overlooking Draper at pick 5 due to his kicking simply means they rate one of the other mids higher at pick 5.  It doesn't mean they don't rate Draper, but have him lower due to his kicking.

Pick 9 is a different issue.  If there's a slight knock on Allan's kicking, but they love his other attributes and potential ceiling then they'll weigh up those considerations.

And 9 is far from a ''reach'' on Allan.  He may not make it to pick 9.

My bad, I was saying 5 is a reach for Allan, not 9

Cal T. did recently link us to these 3 players, but if this is accurate, I hope we do pick Langford.

They're not solely just pure mids.

Langford is a weapon up forward and he showed that at Coates League level this year where he kicked 20 goals playing as a mid who could rest up froward and take strong contested marks.

Allan is more half back flanker that will eventually transition into a midfield role similar to Rivers.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
