If I've read the ladder correctly, Fremantle make the eight if they beat Port next week and any of Carlton (v St Kilda), Hawthorn (v North) or Footscray (v GWS) lose.  They're in with a show but have to win to be any chance.

Correct.

Fremantle’s destiny is out of their hands. They may be eliminated by the time they play, if those three sides all win. But if any lose, they will pass the loser(s) with a win because of their draw.

Collingwood effectively eliminated (mathematically alive but need 150+ point swings or something).

How Fagan continually puts up with that perenial big game choker in ERIC HIPWOOD Bafles me. Until they banish him and a few others who choke in big games, they will go nowhere

He's only ever played a big final against us in 22 lol  ....And inducted himself into: The Kent Kingsley Memorial Society of Spuds Who Play Well Against Melbourne

Freo missing finals on 13.5 wins will be pretty funny

Although the Blues losing on 13 would be better

Ha ha 24 hours ago the ferals were [censored] a hoot, the players were celebrating.

24 hours later they're flat & now whinging about games they lost earlier in the season.

Just would have been sweeter if they lost that gf last year.

Oh well. After next week I don't have to see them or essendon play again this year

So, the pies win a flag - and fail to make the finals the following year.

Culture issues?

On First Crack, all three panelists had us as the most disappointing club 2024. Collingwood 4 pts in front of us was 2nd, 3rd most disappointing and Huddo didnt even have them in the top 4 most disappointing.

Im not suggesting we don’t belong there but surely that #1 spot solely goes to the pies - the reigning premiers ?

Guess they all know Pies fluked a flag they didn’t really deserve. Hence it’s little wonder they are where they are.

How are Adelaide and St Kilda not numbers 1 and 2?

David King had written us off prior to the Carlton pre-season game, whilst he talked St Kilda up all summer.

Adelaide was supposed to be the next big thing and are going to finish bottom 4.

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
