Disco Turner’s New Deal

Featured Replies

I reckon he's been a good replacement for Joel Smith who probably would've been a fixture of our 2024 forward line had he not been rubbed out.

Both players are fantastic set shots for goal. Smith kicked 11.4 in 14 games last year while Disco has already managed 11.3 in 9 games.

hes really surprised me and he will only get better as well. loves the tough stuff and he could be a big brute of a forward if he continues.

I think Turner is a bigger presence, certainly in the air, but Joel had x factor in the air and at ground level. It's a pretty good call this.

For a while I've thought he looked like the eventual Lever replacement. But my goodness, that right foot - it gives me pause.

If he can get the "craft" right, he might end up becoming a more-than-handy forward.

Agreed. Plus Jefferson may also come into contention from next year but I see him as more a third tall similar to Fritsch

^^ It may depend on how Jefferson develops, maybe Adams or other movements  such as Petty moving on, TMc re-signing etc.   IMVHO he would be good in defence or attack, or a swingman depending on needs. (Would prefer he were a forward)

He is a forward every day of the week and twice on Sundays.  Needs a lower jumper number tho

No he doesn't.

Pet peeve of mine.

Being "good" doesn't mean you "need" or "deserve" a lower jumper number.

Let him be 42. Let him be what he was given and make it his own.

(Rant over).

I will join your rant, titan.  Let him stay at 42. BBB kept 50 and went ok when he was physically up to it: on the other hand Liam Jurrah was only half the player when he moved from 48 to 24.

🤣 i like what you did there.

Observe Disco when he’s running in to kick for goal.

He runs straight towards the centre of the goals and that’s where the ball goes.

Perfect.

Hahah. My comment was tongue in cheek. Nothing to do with merit or privilege, it's just the vibe your honour.

Sorry!

You can see I get very worked up about this.

Nah, I mean, when a tackler comes at him, he panics. No one else in our back 7 panics.

I think there is something there in what you say, ,and i also cannot begin to understand one of our more successful career players as this man has seen to grace us with. Players are what they are, and his good qualities far outweigh other things. Everything is on display.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
