I spend a bit of time in Holland. The country has some bizarre soccer team names, like the Go Ahead Eagles and the mighty ZSGOWMS. The 'Demons' might seem a bit odd to some outsiders.

Someone recently mentioned the Vultures, while today I stumbled across Wayback playing in the Port Lincoln football league. Question: what are the more curious footy club names in your neck of the woods?

Not football, but once had a social volleyball team called Zappa Wildcats. Combining love of Frank Zappa and 'The Wildcats' image.png.293a26fa6f24fb8019bee7fb2328fce8.png

I played for the Rams as a kid. A pretty solid footy name in hindsight.

Edit: I think it was related to sheep, but we were also called the Ramblers.

From the 70s to about 2000, the Newcomb footy club was 'the Dinosaurs'.

Not my neck of the woods, but some names I have always found funny.

The name has changed now, but there was a Welsh soccer team which adopted the name of it's sponsor, Total Network Solutions. That business eventually was taken over and now they are The New Saints FC which is not as funny.

There is  Club The Strongest  and Club Always Ready from Bolivia.

Ebusua Dwarfs in Ghana, but the full name is Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs Football Club.

My favourite league for names is the Botswana Premier League  which features Security Systems F.CBotswana Police XI SC and Botswana Defence Force XI F.C.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Adelaide

Noffy, Hatchy and Randy lead Adelaide’s finals-hardened flock to IKON Park for a blockbuster semi-final against Kate Hore and Hanksy’s mighty Demons.  Adelaide has dropped four of its past five matches at this ground — let’s hope that trend holds.  But don’t expect charity — Doc Clarke brings an experienced, battle-worthy murder of Crows.
