Since moving from the GWS Giants as a free agent at the end of 2019, Tomlinson gone through many highs and lows. He established himself in the Demons’ powerful defence early in 2021 but missed out on playing in the flag winning side that year due to an ACL. On return, he has been in and out of the senior team although he often seems to act as it’s lucky charm when played down back with fellow talls Steven May and Jake Lever.

that acl seems to have robbed him of a lot of mobility - he's not quite at chris lamb level turning circles, but he's unfortunately not that far off it

the amount of instruction he needs to be given from lever and may also tends to indicate that he might be a fantastic athlete but he's not a 'smart' footballer, and our entire gameplan is built around our backline and them making good decisions with and without the ball

To be fair, Lever and May bark instructions at everyone. 😂 Ricky in particular looks ill at ease if he’s not tearing someone a new one.

Lever = next MFC captain.

Adam is to good for VFL but needs to show he is next in line for his old spot will have stiff competition from Daniel Turner. Provides great depth as well.

Criminally underused by Goodwin.

Even gets dropped after a career best performance.

Yep and MUST play more in 2024

Yes but still is damn fast.  Led the recent players race.  Anyone know where MacDonald and Brown are finishing these day??

I think the 2km time trial is more a measure of endurance (anaerobic capacity) than speed (what is define as "fast" on a footy field).

It is absolutely one of Tomlinson's strengths, and has allowed him to play on the wing at GWS and to play on half forwards who roam up the ground.

Unfortunately his agility (turning circle and direction change speed) has taken a hit since his ACL, which I think is one of the big things holding him back.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

    A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

    Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
