That is a major pain.

Definitely test if you can hear music or another audio source coming through. One other question, when you tried the XLR cable was it to 3.5mm into an adapter for lightening or was it just an XLR to Lightening cable?

The other thing is I've got an Android phone, Apple may have their own little nuances with this stuff.

Love it when Demonland momentarily becomes Gearspace.

Better than some of the other things it's been lately!

I promise I won’t start hammering you about the quality of your AD converters.

Loved the podcast as usual, I feel myself flip flopping and siding with different panel members all the time;

'Angry Andy' firing up about us potentially not being as good as the ladder suggests

Positive Binners reminding us that a 4 goal win against the 5th ranked team is a good result (after a 6 day break from the Alice no less)

George giving Gussy Brayshaw a big wrap for his versatility

All great shouts

Just getting around to listening to the podders now and Binners has mentioned the return of our tempo footy. I completely agree. It was something very noticeable in the final quarter. We essentially started to play keepings off them by chipping it around half back and the wings. It was very final quarter circa 2021. Good pick up mate.

As an update for @layzie and anyone else who is interested.

You can connect an iPhone or an iPad up to the Rodecaster Pro 2 via XLR or USB-C to play audio but as a result of an intentional iOS limitation you cannot make or take calls this way.

I can set it up to send calls to your Mac or iMac and I tested this out when I went to the Gold Coast match and it worked but no one called into the Podcast that night. This is a viable alternative but ...

For any future interviews for the time being I will dust off the Rodecaster Pro 1 which uses the TRRS cable for calls and works every single time. I don't know why they didn't include that tiny connection on this device.

None of the videos that I watched on Youtube about connecting a Phone to the Rodecaster Pro 2 via Bluetooth to take calls mentioned issues with the Bluetooth connection failing so perhaps it is either an issue with my mixer or my phone. The simple fact is that no matter how many times I use the bluetooth connection successfully now I will still be scarred by what happened when I interviewed Steven May ... with Rick Lever riding shotgun no less. How embarrassing.

I couldn’t listen to this week’s Pod live, because of no remote area internet connectivity.  I listened intently yesterday, on my drive back to the ‘real world’.  Another absorbing show guys. It made the long drive home a ‘breeze’.  Thank you.

Look, you’re a far more generous defender of the players than many here, and it’s ultimately the admirable path, but there was no concession in the slightest that Kozzy could improve in some areas. Is there even the slightest grumble in there? Are you suggesting there isn’t the tiniest fire that’s created all the smoke? Even if that fire is located somewhere near the coaching staff?

Fair point MB.

It's true to say my starting point is to defend the players. But perhaps you're right and i was too dismissive of the concerns about Kozzie's form. Four possessions is a pretty poor output regardless of his role.

I find how they're managing him quite interesting. He has struggled mid season every year so far, and to my eye look like he needs a chop out this year in the same way other young players like Chandler, JVR, Bowey and Spargo clearly did.

But unlike those players they haven't sent him back to Casey. He has played high time on ground in this period - i think it was 95% against the Giants, so perhaps playing senior footy is better for Koz in terms of getting the required load into him.

The other thing i factor in is i don't think there is any debate that Goody's number one priority is to win the flag and that all his selection decisions are informed by that goal.

And there is little debate Goody places a huge emphasis on players carrying out instructions and playing their assigned role.

Goody is not going to select any player who is not performing their assigned role over multiple weeks, so the fact he continues to select Koz suggests to me he is ok with how he is travelling.

A very odd thing there and I can't for the life of me figure out why they would do that. I guess with TRRS being purely analogue it just passes what audio is playing off the phone through and can get around any limitations but XLR should have the same capabilities? No idea.

Good thing you still have the first one, I'd always want a wired option for best possible sound quality if nothing else.

Also there can be a number of unforeseen things that can interfere with the bluetooth and kick it off, just this morning I was listening to music on my car stereo via BT from Spotify and all of a sudden my phone went into call mode to no-one and cut all the audio. This happened at least 6 times, need to troubleshoot that one but I feel like it's another app on my phone getting involved somehow with notifications or something.

Every now and again I will take a call on Bluetooth in my car and it will for no reason switch back to the phone.

All my bluetooth issues could be my phone but it only happens occasionally when taking a call in the car or with the aforementioned connection to the podcasting mixer. It never just switches when using bluetooth earbuds which I use every day for a few hours a day.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
