Yeah they cut it off! Was wanting to see it too, was a bit like in R1 when he sucked in Libba

It was really similar, in the sense that it was near the boundary and Libba just stopped in his tracks - good get.

I don't recall his ability to feint, evade and have so much time being highlighted as his assets when drafted, and i dont recall seeing him display those skills that often in the VFL games.

I wonder if he is the sort of player that is better the higher level he goes to because the pace of the game is so much faster and suit his natural skills, for example because there's more super high pressure situations where elite evasive skills and instinctive quick thinking is required more often.

Only a week ago many were suggesting both he and JVR should be dropped / rested, now JVR got a rising star nomination and McVee his own thread.

I think it’s more simple than that Binny. And I think it all stems from confidence. A great pre-season, coaches paying you more attention and having them trust what you can offer, and suddenly, bang, Judd feels so much more confident in his own abilities. He now feels confident he belongs, and those innate skills that you mention are suddenly able to be let loose.

I remember always playing 3-5 shots better in pennant golf than club golf. Same in junior tennis - better tennis v better players.

A couple of decades having witnessed many premierships, perhaps 4 to 6.

I love the way he just glides across the MCG surface.

Different gait but similarly light footed as TJ.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
