Has anyone else noticed... despite losin all our games.... melbourne have still had their chances in all if not most games they have played.... watchin sydneys game again yesterday i realised although we were still down by 4 goals or more at most stages.... melb seemed to dominate the game and pressure the swans..... now if it wasnt for some f.ed decisions like nick davis holding the ball/throw which the umpire actually gave him a free kick in front of goal, this was around the same time when barry hall was not payed holding the ball for claiming a mark he had cleary not marked.....

anyway my point is... with the right avenues to goal i still feel melbourne is a great chance this year..... we dominated the swans for atleast 1/2 the game..... we were a chance against the hawks in the last 10 mins......we competed with freo for 3 quarters just got killed in the second

i think melbourne has really done well ... to compete with the injuries and the state of of mind they have with 0 wins....

avenue to goal is the only thing that can save us tho....

i say rush neitz and robbo back ASAP ..... with abit of luck we could turn this season from hell right around....

I have thought it amazing that despite seemingly being pummeled at times, we have always seemed to have a sniff. However, I think that can be misleading, as teams early in the year can manage their players and take the foot off the pedal to give the illusion that we are competing. Certainly last week, any time Sydney wanted to kick a goal, they did.

To say we have done well is not right though. We certainly haven't done well.

Exactly. The state of injuries is bad enough, but the lack of confidence shown by the existing player group is of great concern. I reckon a win - no matter how ugly - would be the medicine we need.

AHH, have another look @ the replay of 'US' v the Saints, we were 'ok' for the first 20 minutes of the 1st Q, the Sainters were desperately trying to get their game going & were applying lots of defensive pressure on us & actually had more scoring shots than us but for poor kicking. From the 20 minute mark of the 1stQ on, for the whole game, we started to run around in circles spraying the ball around in all directions, 'till finally turning the ball over to the saints, then we had our turn to chase, not one of our favourite passtimes, let alone having to tackle, then we realise 'OH,' we've trimmed off the extra bulk, 'er muscle (that we took years to put on) & now we have to 'stick' a takle, 'Ha, what a joke.

Yes we will start playing better football in the coming weeks as we regroup the main list, but as long as we have a Quintet of soft shrinking violet's in the side we'll never beat the top 3 teams in a FINAL. Only occaisionally in a H & A game when they have a let down...

A good side cannot carry more than 2 silky smooth types in a team.

You must have a team of skilled 'goers', & add to that some hard class then your on your way.
