Adds that tough edge to the midfield, the Demon vice captain leads by example on the field with his straight ahead approach and unflinching desire for the football.

"The heart-and-soul Demon remains contracted for another three seasons after turning his back on free agency two years ago. The tough midfielder played 22 games in 2022 – his best season return to date – and remains an integral part of the Melbourne midfield machine, averaging almost 26 disposals and an elite 5.7 tackles a game this year." - Herald Sun

The only knock on his season is he does not kick enough goals and has no depth in his kicking, otherwise I think it was his best season even though he has won the MFC player award on 1 occasion and was runnerup twice.

Started the year kicking a goal every game for first 5 or 6 rounds. Would love to see that throughout the year. Thought he was absolutely stellar this season

It was great to see Jack start the year with a full tank, lots of skill, toughness and controlled aggression at the ball and man. Jack played some brilliant footy this year, he would have been disappointed with our last two games but so would the whole team. Let’s hope that he can string 26 games together at that level next year.

I thought he was tremendous and at times showed a turn of speed which I had long forgotten that he had.

Jack had a fantastic season, but a pretty poor finals campaign, which will hopefully push him to greater heights in 2023.
