Improving the Demons coaching staff for 2023?

I definitely agree that any recently retired AFL player who has a passion for coaching should at least be considered.

In my view I would be giving Brett Ratten a call and seeing if he is interested in possibly taking on an assistant coaching role at the Demons (again). Especially, if we end up losing Adem Yze to the Saints.

Mark McVeigh would be the best.

Just hearing Stevie J has taken on a head coach role for Yarrawonga.

Shame, would have loved him as the forward coach, but was probably never really a chance given his aspirations.

There will definitely be a few possible coaches available!

Joel Selwood?

Mark McVeigh?

Brett Ratten?

Nathan Jones?

James Hird?

A lot will also depend upon who ends up getting the recently vacated St. Kilda coach position? 🤔

Imagine Selwood coaching Viney. Would love to be a fly on the wall for that.

We shouldn't be letting Daisy go. I think she's one of the best leaders this club has had in recent times.

Would prefer to have someone who knows how the play the forward role, but do we really think Stafford is going to be moved into a different role or replaced?

With Ben "Truck" Rutten rejoining the Richmond coaching staff we will need to look at other options.

Particularly, IF we end up losing Adem Yze if he is successful in getting the Essendon senior coaching role.

As much as I am sure some here would disagree, I would definitely like the Melbourne Football Club to look to approach someone like Nathan Buckley. He would be an excellent midfield coach and could still do at least some of his media commitments. It would definitely be a tantalizing offer to get the chance to coach Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Jack Viney and Max Gawn in the Demons midfield. Anyway, I guess we shall have to wait and see what happens during the off season.

Additionally, I wouldn't mind asking Nick Riewoldt if he wanted to help out as a forwards coach either.

Are there any other suggestions on who the Demons should consider pursuing to enhance our coaching staff?

We should go after Ratts now and have him as understudy to Choco Williams and even coach Casey.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
