Another week where I feel sorry for Yze

Yes, he was very good today.

Credit where credit is due.

he's no villain in my eyes and never has been, ND's the villain

There'll be a defening silence from a lot of people on here about Yze's game today.

He tackled, he chased, he used some footy smarts at times and he played a solid consistant game.

The knockers will say that's his first for a few years - hey... at least he's got one more than a number of other blokes on the list

Did very well today, i am glad he was dropped (thus ending his record) because it puts him on notice that sub-standard games won't be tolerated. Good on him though, and that goal was nothing short of phenomenal!

Yep, terrific game from Yze today. And just for your information "BrownlowBruce", Yze asked to be left out of the side, he wasn't actually dropped. Get your facts right before insulting the match committee.

I thought his tackling, attitude and finishing was first rate today. Our best.

Go yze... Showed some good leadership skills 2day.. And how was that goal!!!

Actually i think he just told Neale not to hesitate about the record, that he knew his form was off and he will not complain if left out of the side. I don't believe he actually ASKED to be dropped.

Yes, he asked to be left out of the side. It was reported in all papers and websites.

Maybe i read different papers, cos i only read he told Neale not to hesitate before dropping him. Have known to be wrong though, besides i think the point is he recognized that his from was off and was lacking in confidence. Rather than pleading to Neale to give him another chance, he accepted responsibility and was willing to work hard to get back.

I'll agree to disagree if you will  . You are spot on, the fact is that he spoke up about his form and accepted it, without feeling sorry for himself. I was a little frustrated with "BrownlowBruce" for abusing the match committee on a fact he clearly knows little about.

wat a load of CRAP.......

if it wasnt for STUPID supporters ..... who .... put the heat on him.... he would have never asked to be dropped..... now i know the facts.... i do read.... and i dont think an AFL player would asked to be dropped 2 games into a season because he feels he needs be especially a player of his standard........ CLEARLY a peer pressure type effect was put on him..... and to think it was all based on his decision would be utter garbage.....

Well done Yze..... ...

how long to they get on ur back again tho?

oooh yerrr .... wat a super star.... robbed of HIS record by idiots....

right. because a poor pre-season and terrible performances does not warrant an omission. right. who cares about records. i bet that had he not been dropped, he wouldnt have played as good as he did today.

Whether he asked to be left out or was dropped doesn't matter anymore, so get over it.

The fact is he was brilliant today and hopefully this is the launch of a big season.

Well obviously it has to be true then!

That's just it Hards, for a senior player his efforts like this are far too inconsistent, if he played like this more often then people wouldn't post negative things about him. My personal opinion is that the consequetive game record was a major issue for him and Daniher, now that it's gone he's free to play his natural game.

Spot on.

He was fantastic today, but people are kidding themselves calling him a 'champion' and has been poor up till today for a long time.

I'd love nothing more than to see him play well, but it is very disappointing when a player of his talent is soft and lazy.

You know what the next six weeks will show me.

They'll show me what players when your backs are against the wall, who wants to play for the MFC. With the stars not there to make a player look good, who wants to step up. Yze stepped up today and stated that he wanted to be there. Lets hope he can keep it up for the next six weeks.

Well actually he has played like this incredibly often in his career, which makes it hard to cop the persistent derision he recieves in favour of unproven, anonymous, young buzz players.

Best game ooze has played for years. I have never seen him put in 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts the way he did today. I have never seen him so exhausted that he cant run anymore. Today i swear today he looked like he was gonna chuck a couple times such was the effort he was putting in.

Please do it next week adem, it was fantastic to see.

Bruce should be dropped after today

Frontrunner of the highest order

Good game today, no doubt. However, one game don't maketh a season.

Where you stand on Yze might have a little to do with whether you're as good as your last game or whether form in the last couple of years counts for more =)

I like to see Yze out there (and doing well), but I can also see why people have become pretty frustrated.

Jesus H. Christ... Give me strength.

Do you really think Yze, or any self respecting league footballer could give a stuff what supporters think? He has a job to do, and the MEDIA attention was what he claimed got him down.

He had suffered from PEER pressure from his mates, who he was denying a spot, from him betters and bosses and from the all-important media... But that had NOTHINg to do with his record. He wasn't playing good footy, and he was still being selected because of it. This peer pressure is what brought this to his attention. Had he been a normal player in the middle of his career, he would have just gone with the flow, and ND would have dropped him far sooner. The RECORD is the offending variable here. Not the fans, not the coach and not Ooze. If it weren't for the damn consecutive games hullabaloo the media would have been EVEN MORE on his case about his bad form, becuase there would have been less cause to play him!

Open your eyes... both of them.

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
