One of the silver linings of having the WA AFLW teams in VIC is we don;t have to listen to those WA nuffies like Will Schofiled commentating

Thought Carris did some nice things. Should settle well into the comp.

Yep, laying the shepherds and making some tackles too. Great to see.

Thanks all posters and just watched the highlights. Must have been a bit like Anzac Eve last year, with Richmond's 'Uh-oh!' start but, again like the boys, being behind means nothing to the girls. I do like this 'reset' attitude that seems to be a whole-of-club thing. Also liking that - again again like the boys - the girls have the 'if x is down, y stands up' capability. Great depth and the ability to maximise its application.

Zanker 2 from 2 BOGs it seems?

And Harris, on a trajectory yet? - 1, 2, ...? Gee, she's a 'presence', too!

Good to see KP back and (from the 'gameday gallery') firing.

KP didn't have much impact, although a nice cameo in Harris's sealer. But she not the kind of player I'd expect to hit the ground running. She's had such a roller coaster with injuries, border restrictions, etc. Feels like we haven't seen her best yet - another player who might benefit from some unexpected game time due to Covid outs.

I've also since watched the full replay, D_I_O. Couldn't get EZ into my tops.

I agree on KP; I was just pleased to see her playing after the letdown for her last year (same round, same oppo? - that must have been a little challenging)

Just thinking about Parry's game. Has been with us a few years now but has yet to become the major goalkicker she was touted as or to my mind really imposed herself on the game. Perhaps her role has become more defensive over time. She bobs up with some marks here and there, and is pretty solid in the physical stuff but something is lacking...

Would love others' thoughts on her role?

I hope the online trolls are enjoying watching Harris go about her business.  "Overrated/4 goals in 8 game last year/" etc.

she is having a massive impact on us in just 2 games. we have struggled to score in previous seasons but now we are keeping the ball inside 50 for longer due to her influence.  she is so tough, a great mark and long kick and is only 24!

We should be clear favourites for the flag, our recruiting and drafting has been spot on and most importantly we are playing as a team and fighting for each other.  our pressure and intensity is terrific.

She works really hard, leads up and creates options, competes well and does the defensive stuff, as you’ve mentioned.   Kicked three goals Round 3 2021 against North and has career goals of 6 in 16 games.   Been recently taking some ruck duties in forward ball ups.    Averaging 9 disposals a game and her last goal was in round 6 2021.  Not compelling.  With the number of players available this week she may be at selection risk.

The icing on the cake of the round, GOTY and MOTY nominations for Bannan and Harris.

Plus Bannan has been nominated for the Rising Star award:

Alyssa Bannan has got such huge potential.  Excellent athlete - size and pace. Love her footy potential.  Her goals were both fantastic.  The run and 3xbounce goal was top shelf.  Deserves her Rd 2 rising star award.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
