I remember when we drafted him Jason Taylor got asked why we would take him when had plenty of tall backmen. JT said when "a jet" is available at your pick you take them regardless.

Liked his highlight reel from Day1 and nothing that he has achieved so far is less than that evidence.

Many good games ahead for the No 35 and he could easily join our 4 AA s on our list!!

We are ย just wild about Harry!!!ย

Reckon this bloke can be an All Australian in three or four years.

Great contested mark. Tough. Great spoiler.ย  Good disposal especially kicking. Will becomeย  a better handballer with more experience.

Incredible talent identification by our recruiters.

ย

as well as a quadruple premiership defender

Well done to Petty for signing on.

Donโ€™t want to rail road the thread but I am intrigued to see what will happen when Tommo is ready and challenging for his spot in 2022. He is a great bloke and will be pushing hard for another tilt.ย

Can we play a d50 with May, Lever, Tommo and Petty? With Salem, Bowey Rivers to round at the d7?

Hunt and Pig will also put constant pressure on for their spots and we have J Smith who can also play a good lock down role on a mid-size athletic type. Declase in development as well.ย

Such a great arsenal of defensive options and we proved this year that we can cover ย 2 and possibly 3 starting 6 defensive injuries.ย

Reckon you could but you'd need a quick player instead of Brayshaw on the wing to balance things out a bit more ideally.

We name 7 defenders normally but not 4 KP types inc Lever.

We have Turner also whoย May improve.

Hibbo can play either small or medium or sort of tall say Rohan or Briochek perhaps snd say Martin and Cameron.

Lever ย proved vs Geelong in Prelim if he plays well and keeps the troops accountable we can play with Petty taking over Mays role. But in 2022 we will have Tommo available also most of the year.

Don't think we need worry about Gus ย he covers ground ย very well snd stays ย on his wing like Langers to help out defence and forwards.

We will still be very strong for 4/5 years in the backline I believe. L

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
