It would be an absolute disaster to have Weitering and McKay at either end and not build a competitive side around them. Many teams would dream of that pair!

Seems like it might be a tail wagging the dog situation down there, similar to Collingwood at the moment

Well, it's more than just McKay and Weitering.

It's McKay and Curnow down one end. Elite.

And it's Weitering and Marchbank down the other.

Two of the three starting mids are A grade in Cripps and Walsh.

This Carlton ship can unfortunately turn very quickly IMV.

Yes I admit it I have schadenfreude.

Said exactly the same thing to someone today except it was in relation to Collingwood. Although I do have a happy little inner glow every time I hear Carlton are having a disappointing season.

You're right, since and including 2001:

Ess: 204-6-237 - they are underwater
MFC: 172-3-272 - minus 100 wins
Cartoon: 156-4-287 - we have a loser!

Haha at least we're not the worst!!!

What do you reckon about this? A lot of Dees fans were incensed that we did an internal review instead of an external review. Seems to have turned out alright for us in the end.

Didn't I read somewhere that the "external review" at Carlton is going to be done by PWC? If that's right (and someone please correct me if I'm mistaken), I'm not sure how "external" that is given the incoming President of Carlton, Luke Sayers, is the recently resigned CEO of PWC Australia.

I think an internal review made sense for us. We did not have any viable option to change senior coach as Goodwin had 2 years left and sacking him would have left us no money in the soft cap to hire a new coach. And it would have reflected poorly on the Board to sack Goodwin after extending his contract. You don't have an external review if you already know the what answer needs to be.

Teague only has one year left, so they probably can change if they find a better option. If I was Carlton, I would seriously consider making a change. The Blues list is pretty good and their defensive system is very poor.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
