IN's & OUT's for Next Week V Hawthorn

Surely Pickett will play even if only 80% fit.

I think wheatley is a fair shot at comin back into the side, at the expense of bell, CJ or Ward.

You would hope so  !!!

All im going to say is i hope holland plays as he deserves to as he was in top 5 for dees in my opinion. Miller doesent deserves to be dropped - Kick the ball to his chest not feet, dont drop Davey but send him off if he is playing badly and play Pickett and Wheels.

Our major concern is Williams and Franklin

I would drop Yze and open up the 50 with neitz and Robbo only (as hawks defence is questionable). Bate to play forward pocket when 50 not opened up. Wheels to play on Williams and Rivers on Franklin

Bruce shouldnt get a shot in round 2?

please explain.... i dont think u can.... very very silly thing to say

yze got possesions but was appaling as anyone ???? .... i love ur pathedic statments u come up with WEEK in week out RR....

Miller tried hard and if anyone thinks he should be dropped, obviously doesnt want him to ever perform at AFL level.

Fair dinkum BB take a long hard look at yourself.

READ THE POST!!!

I said SHOULDN'T get a shot at round 2 but PROBABLY will. Bruce played a shocker, even you must agree there, blinkers or no blinkers. But he certainly WILL play round 2. When I say shouldn't, I mean he shouldn't based on his last 4 quarters. If he were someone expendable, he'd get a game in the VFL. I KNOW Bruce is important... WE ALL DO!!!! Give it a rest already!!!

Sentence 3 above... Are you talking about me? Or RR? If it's RR, I'll leave you to it, but If you meant to type DD then we need to sit down and have a little talk. You name the patheTic statements I come up with and I'll tell you how you need to recalibrate your brain. My favour to you.

On Miller. Agreed. Many people DON'T want him to succeed. I'm not one of them. For season 2007, rounds 1 and 2 at least he is most likely to be our best option at CHF.

not as legendary as the man himself..... maybe u should remember that...

.

As long as you remember that Ruces perforMance Friday nigh was deplorable, and he should never be captain

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble about big unit Paul, but to say he could hold down CHF at AFL level is a bit of a stretch. He hasn't shown much at Sandy in the forward line yet, I would take a bad Miller over PJ any day of the week at the moment. Paul's best position is still Ruck and I doubt he has played anytime in defense for a very long time, we can't expect anything more of him at the moment than being our buckup Ruckman.

PJ is a better forward than ruck IMO.

Having said that, I'm not sure he has massive potential as an AFL forward either.

chooka, ward out

pickett, rivs in

miller was far from the worst, i think he did ok when the ball gets kicked to your feet constantly or we stuffed around with the ball so badly that he had to led 3 or more times and the back half got flooded

ward must go, he can run.......who cares! he cant kick or hit a target in red and blue but he can hit the opposition on the chest

on thin ice yze, davey (must be told to play the forward 50 and no more)

Fair dinkum BB take a long hard look at yourself.

Settle down DD. I blame the education system not the person.

I agree that Miller may be our best short term option but he is struggling and has for some time. Who are the people who dont want him to succeed?

miller deserves to stay in this week, i jus hope we kick it long and direct so we can actually see how he is really travelling.

i thought his pass to neitz was a good sign of him working on his kicking

I don't think their gunna play Sylvia yet because he only played to 3Qtr time then removed his boots & sat on the bench for the remainder of the game, there's an 8 day break till Easter Monday.

Settle down DD.

Who are the people who dont want him to succeed?

- I'm trying RR...

- Freak, for one. There are a handful of people who don't post often that want him out. I can't remember their names, nor do I care to. Actually I can barely remember my own screen name ost of the time.

I think we're on the same page with Miller. If he plays like he did a couple of years ago then we can use him, but he must play like that 20/22 rounds a year just to break even. I'm very worried about him, but my attentions are directed more at our midfield at the moment...

Excluding the obvious its hard to pick them.

You are right about the focus on the midfield. It gets missed by some

B: BELL, CARROLL, HOLLAND

HB: WHELAN, RIVERS, WARD

C: JOHNSTONE, MCDONALD, MOLONEY

HF: DAVEY, MILLER, GREEN

F: ROBERTSON, NEITZ, BATE

FOLL: WHITE, BRUCE, BARTRAM

IC: JONES, WHEATLEY, GODFREY, JAMAR

EMERG: SYLVIA, C.JOHNSON, BROWN

Bell gets one last chance against Williams he fails he must go back to Sandy.

Carroll v Roughhead

Holland v Boyle

Rivers v Franklin

McDonald v Mitchell

Bartram v Hodge, Godfrey will allow them to rest.

Newton will need a few more good games for Sandy before he gets considered but Miller is running out of chances although I don't think you can blame Miller for being ordinary considering how bad our disposal and constant handballing was.

Considering how poor our defensive pressure was there is every chance Godfrey will be picked solely for defensive pressure.

Wheatley last few weeks have been pretty good and he can kick so he can straighten us up if he can get the ball.

I would like to see Sylvia in but he doesn't sound fit enough probably a week away. Pickett is going to need at least 1 week at Sandy he has missed too much football.

Yze must be dropped he was 1 who desperately needed a big game he didn't deliver we have carried him for too long he must go back to Sandy. C.J is a bit unlucky because we had so many bad players I think someone other than Yze needed to pay for our performance.

Thanks to the clearance of Whelan and Davey at the MRP, I'm feeling much more confident about this game.

My team:

Whelan Carroll Holland

Brown Rivers Bell

Johnstone Jones Moloney

Pickett Miller Green

Davey Neitz Robbo

White McDonald Bruce

Inter: Bate CJ Bartram Jamar

In - Rivers Brown Pickett

Out - McLean Ward Yze

Possibly Bizzell for Holland if no match up but I can't see ND dropping Holland.

This is what I want to see:

Davey played in and around the forward 50 for 75% of his game time, with some SHORT bursts further up the ground.

ND to put Bruce where he should be - ON THE BALL. No flanks. And rest him in the forward pocket (not the bench).

Bate played on the wings or flanks - he should not be in for the centre bounces.

If Holland has no match-up try him up forward.

Most of the team had a terrible time last Friday....Yze is not solely to blame. He did do one or two good things and then it went all down hill for the whole playing group.

Yze deserves another chance. Seeing Rivers and Pickett back in is enough to motivate our boys.

i disagree melbfc...yze has had too many chances in the past 3 years. he was on his last legs preseason and finally put in at sandy to get his game. he didnt play well so he gets dropped. 2 weeks ago danners threatened to drop him. he played 1 good game for sandy since. why does that get him another chance.

i think yze, and therefore melbourne, will better for once we get that stupid record off his back and he can concentrate on playing footy.

INMHO we need some more experience in the backline. Who is going to go with Franklin? The guy is a freak! We need someone to fill the hole, a third player up, ie. Bizz. Bartram to tag Williams. ? Wheatley as link man or Brown dog. Is wheels out with concussion? A better plan should create better performances for the forwards, ie, Miller, Neitz, Yze and Robbo. Expect Moloney to make an impact. Tight and tough play from Junior and Jones.

Whelan, Carrol, Wheatley/Holland

Bizzel, Rivers, Bell

Jonstone, Moloney, Green

Robertson, Miller, Sylvia

Davey, Neitz, Yze

foll: White, Mcdonald, Bruce

i/c Jones, Jamar Batram Brown

OUT: CJ, Ward, Bate, Mclean

in: Brown, Rivers, Bizzel, Silvia, Wheatley/holland*

godfrey no chance..... bartram can tag crawford.....

bruce to run off hodge...

and mcdonald to tag mitchell.

*Wheatley on Buddy would be a nice match as wheatley is tall and fast ... but i cant see holland gettin dropped as he did rack up alot of dream team points :P

CJ and Bate too miss .... just not enough room

Yze unlucky to miss , cleary not our worst.... sour grapes about losing in freo .... need somone to blame more worried about him not gettin the record than giving him anohter shot.

Whelan Carroll Holland

Green Rivers Bell

TJ Jones Moloney

Robbo Miller Bate

Davey Neitz Sylvia

White JMac Bruce

Jamar Pickett CJ Bartram

IN: Sylvia Pickett Rivers

Out: Yze Ward McLean

Green to the Half Back Flank to improve the disposal and attack coming out of the defence (unlike ward, doggy, bizzell, wheatley ect Greeny will be able to hit Miller/Robbo on the chest from 50m away)

Sylvia and Pickett to rotate between themselves, Sylvia plays deep, when pickett comes on Robbo or Bate play deep, and pickett roams the middle of the ground like he can only do best!!!

Bruce to PLAY ON hodge, not tag, make hodge accountable for bruce, as bruce can shut him down, and still hurt him the other way

Whelan , Carrol, Wheatley

C. Johnson, Rivers, Bell

Jonstone, Moloney, Green

Yze, Miller, Pickett

Davey, Neitz, Robertson

foll: White, Mcdonald, Bruce

i/c Jones, Jamar, Batram, Bate

Emergency: Bizzel, Sylvia, Ward

In: Rivers, Pickett, Wheatley

Out: Holland, Mclean , Ward

Daniher should drop Holland, not because he didnt play well enough friday night to earn selection, but because he promised he would play holland 'hoarses for courses' this year. He does not have a match up this week. Rivers is a nible, more agile defender to replace him (as is Wheatley)

Ward gets dropped. i dropped him from a group of ward, bell, c Johnson, Whelan. with wheatley and river coming in one of this need to be dropped. i chose Ward as the worst of this group of players. this could be a bad decision as Ward was the only one of this group of players willing to take on the opposition and played the run and carry plan out correctly. however his disposal is [censored] and i prefer him out of the side.

IMO, Daniher should reward VFL's best on ground should there be a suitable match-up or position for that player. This week it was P Wheatley, and his versatility will definitely place him in good stead to be picked this week against an agile hawthorn forward line.

Pickett and rivers are definite in our best 22. Pickett wouldv been picked last week were it not for his sick mother. regains their place in the team.

Sylvia to come back into the side the next good game he plays for Sandy. hopefully thatl be next week.

Hawthorn forward line:

Roughead -Carrol

Williams - Whelan

Franklin -Rivers

Boyle - Wheatley

Bell, C Johnson and last resort Miller are others to go through the defence depending on match-ups or if one of those players are being beaten

B: Wheels Carroll Holland

HF: C.Johnson Rivers Ferguson

C: Johnson Moloney McDonnald

HF: Robbo Miller Green

F: Davey Neitz Bate

R: White Bruce Jones

I.C: Jamar, Brown, Ward, Buckley

Out: Yze, Pickett, McLean, Bell

Yze does not deserve a spot and Bartram needs some work at sandy. hes underdone. Bring in Brown for him or Bizzell

Think i'll wait to see who's fit and healthy come thursday before getting too excited about this bloke for that etc. Youd expect Jared and Byron to almost be walk up starts, but not if not underdone.

We may not have as many choices as we like going into the Hawkers game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
