Actually their losses make our performance in Round 1 even worse but we are used to excuses... it's the MFC thing

Time to move on..... the dramas are just starting

Interesting time to bring this to the fore - you don't think for a second that the Eagles being in the hub has had an effect on their overall performance?

We didn't set the world alight in Round 1, but the Eagles were on their home deck and fresh off a good pre-season.  There is nothing to suggest that it makes that loss look any 'worse'.

West Coast's hub performance is a reflection on them and has nothing to do with us.

I was disappointed with our performance in Perth but conceded that the news of the season postponement and possible cancellation could have had an impact. Wasn't there also a story at the time that our accommodation reeked of cleaning solution making the players nauseous and giving some headaches. Not ideal preparation.

The Eagles situation in QLD is vastly different in circumstance than our situation in Perth.

We'll never know but it would be interesting to see how the Eagles would have gone playing us in Melbourne in Round 1 given the same scenario.

What it does tell us is that in these times we need to cut the players a bit of slack.

They aren't robots and things effect people differently.

Many were decrying our lack of professionalism to not overcome the odds.

The WC team who many see as being a pro unit are struggling with mental demons.

Wise, some on here, as RJay has posted, think players are Robots, devoid of any emotion and should just play to their optimum every game,no matter what.

Of course that is crap. There could be a million different things that can affect sporting performances.

It is not to be used as an excuse of course, but a reason or explanation.

See red, you are part of the problem, part of the losing culture that pervades the dees. There is no excuse for players not being ready for battle week in, week out. No mitigating factors.

Yes, yes i know that the evidence of this season indicates the very opposite with so many good teams being unable to find the required intensity in empty stadiums and losing to sides they would never lose to in normal times.

What's that i hear you say - the cats losing the blues at Kardinia park for the first time since the blues last won a premiership is surely evidence that external factors, like no crowds, can affect sporting performances? Phewy. A bunch of losers. No excuse for not being up for that game.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
